Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Hulk Hogan

    glemay25 — 10 years ago(January 02, 2016 06:31 PM)

    1. Andre the Giant-Also made racial slurs to the point that he almost had a real fight with Bad News Brown
    2. Jake "The Snake" Roberts-Drug and Booze addict. Even showed up to shows under the influence
    3. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka-Accused of killing his girlfriend
    4. Jerry "The King" Lawyler-Accused of rape
    5. Ric Flair-Adulter and dead-beat father
    6. Steve Austin-Wife-beater
    7. Randy Savage-Wife-beater and child molester
    8. Kerry Von Erich-Drug Addict
    9. Kevin Sullivan-Might have had something to do with the Chis Benoit tragedy
    10. Dino Bravo-Involved in organized crime
    11. Scott Hall-Booze addict
    12. Vince McMahman-The WWE owner himself has had scandals involving steroids and sexual harassment
My point is that Hulk Hogan is not the only big name wrestler involved in a scandal. Why just pick on him and not all these other wrestlers I mentioned?

You forgot to mention that Scott Hall shot a man dead.
And Fabulous Moolah ran a prostitution ring.
And Pat Patterson getting young wrestlers fired for refusing to do sexual favours for him.

Why just pick on him and not all these other wrestlers I mentioned?
Because he was an idol and role model for millions of kids. Why can't people understand that?

But at the same time those who did grow up watching him are grown ups too. And he's rarely wrestling these days anyway. Most recent years were spent in TNA.

Because none of that made media headlines.
Once the heat has died down Higan will be brought back, Triple H knows what's best for business and he's not going to let the money WWE can make off Hogans name slip away again. The whole Benoit treatment of Hulks name in WWE for the time being is a load of crap so WWE doesn't look bad or they lose stock ect,,, while backstage Triple H and MacMahon are probably talking to Hogan on a weekly basis biding their time for when to return.

They won't, because none of these other things happened in the digital (Internet) age (except Lawler, but you shouldn't fire somebody over an accusation, only if they're found guilty).
Also, booze and adultery are legal (might be frowned upon, but you aren't committing a crime - not the same as hate speech.)
It's not WWE's fault. It's the pressure of social media complaining - and if enough people complain, they start losing advertising dollars If it didn't make good business sense, they'd have rode it out and not done a thing They might have gotten away with it during the Attitude Era, but not now it's gone back to PG-13.
