The thing is, maybe Jim really wasn't a nice person in the real world. I don't know one way or another. Easy for some folks to gossip about him after his death, when he can't defend himself.
I'm only interested in what the celebrities do on the big screen. Their personal lives are none of my business.
If Jim wasn't a nice guy in the real world, wellI doubt that many other celebrities are much different.

I remember this part of the thread. Someone had shown up and written a rather nasty reply to me, calling me obsessed and all that. They claimed that they had pages and pages of info on bad things which Jim had done when he was a young man. I wrote a polite reply and asked them what they heard. Meanwhile, I see that some others wrote terrific replies, too. I see that the nasty post was deleted by the poster. It was quite the rude post - several paragraphs of nonsense. Let's just say that I gave them a reply which was far politer than they deserved.

Pity I didn't archive that post, as it wasn't at all rude, and simply backed up what ccurts was suggesting in his own responses to you, largely backing up what ccurts has said in a more oblique way, namely that Hutton appears not to have been a very nice guy IRL.
And anyone reading your posts on this thread can easily see for themselves that you're far beyond 'mildly curious'; you are obsessed with Hutton.

Someone posted a more detailed bio of Jim on his home page, and it sounds like he was a bit of a prankster during his college days. It's possible that he did some malicious things to people in his personal life. I'm not excusing this sort of thing, but at the same time, I'm mostly interested in what he did on the big screen. The rest of it is just mild curiosity on my part.

The Ellery Queen series is a good one. Lots of great lighthearted mysteries!
Jim did a lot of great romantic comedies in the 1960s, mostly starring opposite Paula Prentiss, who is also a joy to watch on the big screen.

Even just one more season would have been nice. If the show had run a lot longer, they would have had to replace Ellery since Jim passed away. But two season would have been just right. More episodes to choose from.
Of course, if the series had gone on for 10 years or something, then the last few seasons would have likely been scraping the bottom of the barrel, with the scriptwriters probably trying out all sorts of stupid gimmicks in order to keep the show going.

Does anyone know if Jim ever stated in any interviews his thoughts on working on Ellery Queen? I wondered if he really enjoyed working on the show and if he was disappointed,as fans of him and the show were, after it was cancelled after only one season?

I don't think I've ever come across any of his interviews, so I have no idea (unfortunately).
