Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ben Kingsley

Kingsley came up with quite an incredible voice for his transformation into The Mandarin. I'd say it's right up there with The Joker and Bane in terms of actor / character transformations, just from seeing the trailer footage!

I love his voicework for the Mandarin. Everything he has said in any trailer so far sounds awesome and very unique.

            !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed, Ben Kingsley would of been SO BAD A** had they kept his character the way it was. I was fascinated by him then the producers deliver a complete anti climax. The whole "Youuuuuuur never seeeeee meeeee cooommmmiiiinnnggg" gave me goosebumps in the trailer aswell, but it certainly won't once you know the twist.

The greatest twist the Mandarin ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist. Ben is reported working back with Marvel Studios and I've got a feeling that the Mandarin will show his true colours

He sounded pretentious and cartoony for me. Especially the fact that he spoke with a southern American accent. Mandarin's intonation should sound like Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Man with a glimpse of Chinese accent.
