I read that he INSISTED to appear in the credits and on posters as sir Ben Kingsley from now on.
Sure you can be proud on a title, but too much is just too much.
(kinda reminds me of Jack Sparrow ya know, "it's captain Jack Sparrow" but in a less irritating and pathethic way)
      read my x-men 4 script:

Yeah he is up himself. He makes the actors he's working with call him Sir Ben during rehearsals and everything. Prffff. Silly.

Bwuh? What a jerk. Real AND humble actors like William Holden are rolling over in their grave right now.
What happened to the time when actors and good people could be the same thing at the same time?

Yeh he's been well up his own luvvie arse lately by insisting Sir Ben being put on the credits of the hack hollywood movies he appears in.
But to be fair I think he's lightened up judging by his Sopranos cameo.
For those who haven't seen it, Christopher blags a meeting with him, to tout his awful ganster script, after being so impressed by his Don Logan performance.
He ticks off Christopher for calling him Kingsley instead of Sir Ben. However a mashed Christopher can't quite get his head around this and spends the rest of the show calling him Sir Kingsley.

I don't fully condone snobbery, but the fact is he IS a great actor. I tend to be pretty modest at times, but I'm just a blue-collar guy from New Jersey. What do I have to brag about? If I had as much fame and success as Ben Kingsley, I'm not gonna lieI'd be full of myself too. Hey, it's not like he's one of these no-talent movie actors who's doing direct-to-video movies now and think they're the greatest. Besides, I think almost every movie star is a snob. It's just when they go on shows like "Jay Leno" and "David Letterman," they act all humble, just so the public will like them (and so their publicists won't beat them over their heads). At least Kingsley is open about being a snob. Hollywood changes people. There is no exception to the rule.

i couldn't agree more, i think he's a total ass! I remember reading Chloe Sevigny saying in quite a few interviews for "Melinda and Melinda" that when she worked with Kingsley in "Mrs Harris" he actually sent round memos to cast and crew basically demanding he be addressed to as Sir Ben. she was kinda dismissive, just saying "I've seen people behave far worse" but you can sorta tell she was annoyed by it anyway. His career has totally gone down the toilet, judging from gems such as "BloodRayne" (which he apparently gave up "Munich" to do?!?), "Thunderbirds", "A Sound of Thunder" and "Lucky Number Slevin", and he's still forcing people to call him "Sir"? Geez, talk about someone with no perspective whatsoever.

I agree with the fact that Hollywood changes everyone. But there is a difference between being just completely self absorbed or at least having enough self restraint to at least ACT humble when they're doing public relations. At least many of the other celebrities have enough self control and humility not to demand that everyone calls them "Sir".

Who cares if he's good at pretending to be other people? That doesn't make him someone important. Actors are way too full of themselves, considering they're nothing more than glorified puppets. Ghandi should have gotten the knighthood, not the tool who impersonated him.

I think this policy of his might land him in a rather awkward situation. How might he react when he's working with another "Sir" like Michael Caine (who was knighted before Kingsley was) who insists on being simply called "Michb68ael" while he insists on being called "Sir Ben"? I'd be rather ashamed if I were in his place.

He is a great actor one of the best out there but I saw him in an interview and I think I listened to some kind of commentary for one his movies and I thought the same thing about him. I thought I was the only one who noticed that about him. It's a shame because I admire him as an actor so much but insisting everyone call you Sir is just ridiculous. He hasn't cured cancer he's just a great actor! There are great actors who seem totally cool and down to earth and unpretentious like Anthony Hopkins!
