The OP obviously has not been paying attention Queen Latifah is a Golden Globe, SAG award winning actress. She won a Golden Globe for best actress for her performance in Life Support. She also has won a SAG award for her performance in Life Support. Queen Latifah also was nominated for an Oscar in "Chicago". She also is a successful singer and rapper.

Unlike todays entertainers or whatever they are out of nowhere, the Queen is a rapper with many albums now a jazz singer, actress on TV shows like "Living Single" and many other.many notable film roles as noted on IMDB.com

yaa go through her imdb movie list its full of failed A and B movies, both as her as lead and as secondary characters. The only decent ones, at least by ratings such as stranger than fiction, hairspray, chicago and the bone collector, could hardly be called successful due to her, she could have been replaced by "name any generic archetype actress" and her presence would not have gone amiss. (does she come to mind when you say any of these movies?? not really)
if its being a hater to call out a poor actress who people say is an 'amazing one (im sure she is a great women and she is beautiful) then i guess you hate reality. -

@Homersfan: Queen Latifah gained popularity through her hip hop music in the early 90's. Then she starred in a tv show, and afterwards she became a film actress. And I think in 2003/2004 she came out with an album on which she sang. -

Don't worry, you're not alone. I don't think she's very talented, either. Then again either is Ashlee Simpson, and she'll make more money than we'll ever see. And that is the only true barometer of success: wealth. Am I right, people? sigh

Well, QL was a hip hop chick, and did a whole bunch of music I've never heard, then she got the show Living Single, which wasn't half bad, then she got a bunch of roles in movies I've never seen.
