Well.. even if you've never seen "Carrie" you've probaby seen clips of her scenes from that film, which are as memorable as anything out there.

She was also in the mini-series The Thorn Birds which aired originally in 1983. It has been airing a lot over the last few months on the Oxygen Channel.

They were supposedly going to run it the weekend of July 30 b5b4ut then didn't. I'll keep my eye out and let you know. I absolutely love her character. She is a pivotal part of the story. 🙂
Have you seen The Thorn Birds before? If you have and liked it, then I would suggest getting the DVD. It is well worth the $24.95 on amazon.com, IMO!! 🙂

I read the novel as a kid, and saw The Thornbirds when it was first on TV, and not since then, so I am having trouble remembering Piper Laurie in it at all! I remember thinking Bryan Brown being perfectly cast as the foil to Richard Chamberlain, exactly as the book described both characters, and Barbara Stanwyck was perfect also. Now why can't I recall Piper's character, was she the mother? That was a perfect miniseries, like Rich Man, Poor Man, maybe even betterI hope I get WE, have to check on that..

She was the woman who lived in the farmhouse (or whatever it was) with Rachel Wards character while Luke was gone working.

Yes, she played Anne Mueller, an invalid, whom Meggie helped out and stayed with (along with Luddie Mueller) while Luke was gone out in the sugar cane fields. I loved their characters!

Smoke0, please come over to the imdb boards on The Thorn Birds!!! We all agree there, that it was a perfect mini-series! Some of us are quite obsessed! 🙂 We love new people's perspectives on the series. Thanks and hope to see you there!!
