Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Randy Quaid

    Satan2016 — 13 years ago(January 27, 2013 10:42 AM)

Who wrote the glowing IMDB bio? Interesting bit further down:
He was banned for life from the Actors' Equity Association as the result of fellow actors official complaints about his behavior during the 2007 run of "Lone Star Love" a retelling of The Merry Wives of Windsor set in the 1860s in which Randy was cast as Colonel John Falstaff at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. He was also fined $81,572 by the union for his actions in Seattle, the equivalent of two weeks' salary for the cast; all 26 members of the cast brought charges against Quaid, maintaining that he "physically and verbally abused his fellow performers and that his oddball behavior forced the show to close." Another major issue was Randy's costume, over which he insisted he had final approval
(he dyed his hair beet red and wore a codpiece the size and shape of an official N.F.L. football)
. Reacting to Equity's decision, Quaid said, "I am guilty of only one thing: Giving a performance that elicited a response so deeply felt by the actors and producers with little experience of my creative process that they actually think I am Falstaff.". [2008]
He is listed as "producer". Before Starwackers, he did
    The Debtors
    , which got this review:
    http://www.imdb.com/board/10167110/reviews
Quite possibly the worst film ever made, 14 April 2005, Rod Duggan from United Kingdom
Comprising an embarrassing performance of a dreadful script by Michael Caine, who must pray daily that nobody mentions this film in interviews, and a clumsy fake cockney accent by an American actor that puts Dick van Dyke (Mary Poppins)in the shadows. This film goes to great lengths to dovetail so many unfunny and badly scripted elements into one gross ordeal. There is so much swearing in this "comedy" that there was a $100 sweep, funded by Evi Quaid for whoever could guess the amount of beep in the film. The winning figure was 126. That sums it all up, really. Ramstein brighten it up with the music and the flamboyant scenery but really do go beyond the bounds of taste with their overtly sexual display. Occasionally seeing something really badly made can be invigorating, and a welcome break from the run of blandness that movies often cling to, and in this case I would recommend seeing this movie, then you can appreciate the good films so much more afterwards.

      Here is Eva Quaid's bio
      http://www.imdb.com/board/20002975/bio
      Birth Name
      Evzenya Motolanez
Evi was born in 1963 in Vermont, of Spartan and Russian descent. At age 12, Evi left home permanently. Her Greek grandfather financed her education at five different New England boarding schools, all of which she was summarily expelled from for intentionally altering the interpretation of school regulations such as bedtime curfews, dress codes, and for escaping campus boundaries after dark. After four years of attendance at five schools, her high school diploma was withheld for bad behavior. While pursuing her film and visual arts projects, Evi met actor Randy Quaid whom she married in 1989. While working to create diverse characters for photographers, Evi developed a penchant for imprinting humor and immediate gratification on the viewer. In her early work, she experiments with stereotypes of the nude to such an extreme, photographers found their own work unrecognizable, even somewhat vulgar. She sought to push boundaries to create nudes that reverse the traditional focus away from the breast, while exposing elements bare to penetrate in a confrontational and liberal manner, both inviting and repelling. []
      If you google
      Eva Quaid nude
, you get a pic of her with handgun spread out on a bed. Too bad the naughty bits are blacked out.

        From the Evi Quaid board:
        http://www.imdb.com/board/20002975/board/nest/174577222
. It appears she wrote her IMDB bio under the name 'Janet Cross'. She also used a bad credit card under that name.

          The Quaids are producer/director of
          The Debtors
. Review follows. See NSFW Rammstein video

Production began in Los Angeles during August 1998, with Randy Quaid as one of the three leads. The other key roles went to Caine and Catherine McCormack, reportedly replacing Burt Reynolds and Joan Cusack just before shooting began. Within a month the films line producer quit. The director favoured unorthodox methods of working, such as scribbling new dialogue on scraps of paper and handing them to the actors just before a take. It was great, she told Premiere magazine. Nobody knew what I was shooting from one day to the next. And I never had a record of it. Quaid spent close to a million dollars of her own money on last minute changes.
A climactic scene in a ballroom with 200 extras in expensive couture clothes created special problems. German industrial band Rammstein was hired to perform its stage show, including simulated anal sex. The lead singer pretended to sodomise another band member with a plastic penis, before spraying a mixture of milk and water into the air that spattered the face of a female extra.
Caine talked about the film at his NFT interview in 1998. I just did a comedy in LA for which I know nobodys going to get an Oscar, but which you make for box office. And I had a great deal of fun with it. I was up in Las Vegas, and LA, and New York, and doing scenes up and down Madison Avenue, with beautiful women and bright times. You think, were not going to get an Oscar here, but lets have a great time making the movie.
In February 1999 Caine told Hello magazine why he decided to make the film with a first-time director: Because shes nuts. Because she wrote it. Because she believes in it. And because Id never worked with a woman director. And it was really smashing. She had lots of women on set so the testosterone was down to a very low level, which pleased me. Its tiring being macho all the time. As to whether its any good, your guess is as good as mine. Comedys a bit like parachute-jumping sometimes nothing happens. Theres no such thing as a mediocre comedy. Its either very funny or it sinks like a stone. Well see.

Seems to me Lord that you just keep posting bios and reviews and quotes. Do you really want to know who writes them? Anyone who is a contributor which isn't hard to become.

What's so weird about that part of the bio? It was totally in context for that part, talking about some of the stuff that has happened I his later years. I thought it belonged there.

LordObama: that is not the bio, that is from the trivia section. The bio looks like it was written by his agent, only his agent would write such a rose-colored piece of garbage. A bio should be more of a representation of an actor's life and career, not a sales pitch.
