Yes, it was one of the two. As no one really knows, the question cannot be answered beyond a shadlow of a doubt.

At this point in time, any answer you receive will be no more than someone's personal opinion. Some people have very strong feelings about their opinions and will offer all kinds of reasoning why their theory is the only possible answer to your question. Other will give you an opinion with the realization that it's certainly not provable.
Some questions cannot be answered definitively. Inconvenient, perhaps, but that's the way it is.
