Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — George Reeves

    queman628 — 19 years ago(September 10, 2006 08:14 AM)

I love Hollywood Mysteries. One of the most popular ones is Who Killed Bob Crane? However George Reeves left behind a mystery of his own.
Did he committ suicide. I personally don't think so. I came to this conclusion one time while watching E True Hollywood Stories or some type of show like that. Alot of people who knew George thought there was no way it could have been suicide. Yes his carrer took a downfall, yes he was typecast as Superman which lead to his role in "From Here to Eternity" to be unbilled or uncredited, and reports said he was broke. On the virge of his death, he was about to become some type of wrestler to support himself, as well as about to attempt a directing/producing carrer. Could these events lead himself to committ suicide? I feel that is one answer that will never be answered.
Now lets look at some facts.
He had an affair with the wife of the head of MGM studios at the time who MIGHT have had type ties to the mob. E.G. Mannix I think was his name and he was under suspicion when his first wife was killed in a car accident. Alot of people around Mannix had a habit of dying. Months prior to his death, Reeves was involved in a car accident and it was determined that his brake lines were cut. Sometime tried to kill him then.
When he meet a new woman, he attempted to sever his "relationship" with Mannix's wife. She was not happy to hear the news.
Prior to his death, Reeves broke off his relationship with the woman he left Mrs. Mannix for.
Now, the LAPD had to put the case to rest because of "pressure". There were some LAPD detectives who were on the case thought there was more to the case than suicide. There are many unanswered questions and where did this "pressure" to end the case come from? MGM? The Mob? Both? MGM or The Mob had someone "bought" either in the police department, the DA's office or perhaps the cororner's office.
There was signs of struggle on Reeves' body such as bruising on his arms. People that kill themselves don't leave behind signs of struggle. He could have bruised himself while preparing for wrestling but the bruises were too fresh.
There were more than 1 bullet hole and casing found at the scene. People who shot themselves rarely miss. There was one bullethole in the ceiling and 1 or 2 in the floor of the bedroom.
His ex girlfriend and 2 other friends were over that night. They all said he was depressed that night but waited about an hour to call the police..Why?
There was no gun residue on his hands. People that fire any type of firearm leave behind some type of residue.
Personally I think he was murdered. I don't know by who but I don't believe it was suicide.

And how much research have you done into the case, Hollywoodshack? Have you talked to the people who were in the house with Reeves the night he died? Have you talked to the individual cops? Have you talked to the coroner and the paid autopsy technicians? Have you examined the room and seen the bullet holes? Have you talked to his best friend who saw him crying from depression the same day? I have done all those things and many, many more. So define hokum. I define it as something you want to believe even though experts disagree with you.
