- Far as I know Mcgowan is disease free
- El Mariachi, if I'm correct, was made before Tarantino's first film. So if anything Rodriguez helped tarantino become the person he is today. And Rodriguez has also done a lot of work on some of Tarantino's more successful films. Tarantino also does the same for him.
- Tho divorced, there was a recent article where rodriguez referred to Mrs. Avellan as 'my wife' sodivorced or nothe is still dedicated to her in some way so it stands to logicshe just might be just as dedicated to him still. Alsoand I can only go on what i've seen and read butrodriguez does seem to be a top-notch daddy.
- Crap or not the man has his own studio. He can do what he wants (Spy Kids 4 came out in the top 3 during it's opening weekend. Machete also seems to have found it's own fan follwoing as well) and currently, he's putting together the sequel to sin city 2 (and I've really got to say that people need to look the graphic novels before panning it as another typical work from the hands of rodriguezit's not. It's Frank Miller's graphic novel turned into cinematic form. (Personallyin some parts the film was better than the 3 novels it was based upon)
Not trying to cause a rukus or come off like some obsessed (I reserve that Insanity for Karl Urban and Russell Crowe) Rodriguez fan butC'MON!!!

- I never claimed El Mariachi was b/c of Tarantino. But they did meet on RR's 2nd film.
- How exactly do you know Rose is disease free? Are you her or her Doctor? Any girl who sleeps with Marylin Manson has to be considered to have germs until proven innocent.
- A top notch Daddy that bangs actress in the trailer on his movie sets? Great example for your kids. Hang out with them at the park cancels that out. What do you think he pays per month in alimony and child support? I'm sure he thinks about his wife often.
- You're obviously a fan b/c Sin City was not very good. And just b/c a film opens in the top 3 makes it good? Spy Kids 4 received across the board horrible reviews. If we're being honest, I actually thought PLANET TERROR was his best film since EL MARIACHI. Why? Because it was supposed to be a B movie shlock. THAT'S WHAT RR IS. He is a B movie/Ed wood type filmmaker. MACHETE the same (although he didn't direct Machete - he directed the scenes Deniro was in - that was all). These are stupid over the top B movie plots - that's where he excels.
I'm not a fan. I admit it. I know people who work with him and they love him. He's fun. He makes films cheap - so his financiers love him. And he did make a ton of money with his Spy Kids franchise. Unfortunately he completely ruined it with this last outing earning terrible box office and reviews. He'll be lucky if it continues on a DTV basis. (did part 4 make money? Yes. But b/c it was so horrible, he ruined the brand name)
You say Sin City was Frank Miller's style well Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico were John Woo. Ever seen THE KILLER or HARD-BOILED? You'll see exactly where RR got his signature camera moves.
he's a B movie guy who gets to use A level talent. Had Ed Wood got A level talent, he and RR would be exactly the same.

2)That's not what I heard or read, I head/read they met AFTER el mariachi. Agree to disagree. - Men ARE MENpeople are people(Rodriguez NEVER said he wanted to be a role model for husbands)He still seems dedicated to his children. He wouldn't base some of their film on their ideas otherwise (and yes, I know children that enjoyed those filmsI think that's the audience he was aiming for)
- Yes I am a fan of frank miller and robert rodriguez, I would not have mentioned either film or novels
- So what? Directors feed off of one another, (Speilburg and Lucus are a good examples) i would not have mentioned Tarantino other wise.
I think I personally have entertained the users of this forum enough.

He was always a talentless hack, but he happened to write and direct a good movie (El Mariachi) entirely by accident?

Not so much like Ed Wood. I'd say much closer to Roger Corman or Troma, as his movies tend to look more expensive than they are and have more self-awareness.

He makes full-length blockbusters with big action set-pieces, stunts, special effects and big name actors for little money. Yep, he sure does sound talentless.

Ever notice how John Woo's slow-motion shootouts resemble Sam Peckinpah? Don't certain scenes in Godard's 'Breathless' remind you of Samuel Fuller? Hasn't Tarantino ever reminded you of…everyone who has ever made a movie? -

tarantino and rodriquez meet during sundance festival. They both had so much in common that they became best friends.
