God I loved her in this film. She also represented the perfect example of a strong woman who was also still very much a woman, very feminime and tough. I like that.

^Hell yeah.Watched that movie at least 10 times and i never get tired of it.She's one of my favourite actresses.
Sharon Stone was absolutely laughable in the 90's version.

        Zriter59 — 15 years ago(January 09, 2011 08:43 PM)

Zriter59 I found the original so ridiculous that I never wanted to see the remake. GR acted at acting tough, and that was hilarious (it was obvious that Stone, who's less an actress than a face and body, would be at least as laughable, if not more so). Despite all the garlands about GR on this thread, she isn't much of an actress.
There are tons of FANS here. FANS want to cut actors, actresses, directors, etc. a lot of slack. So FANS are utterly unreliable as reviewers.
Serious reviewers couldn't care less about how Rowlands and her husband got together, how they worked together, how many kids they had, etc. Thus unencumbered, they can properly assess the quality of the work in question.

Love Gena in anything, but last night I saw "Gloria" for the very first time, and now I love her even more so! Both her character and her performance were superb.
