Why do people hate her?

Who knows? Maybe it's impossible to know why anyone hates anything. It can all be very subconscious.
I'll tell everyone here a little secret: I used to hate Kristy Swanson too. And that's really ironic, because I am now, if not her biggest fan, at least a pretty strong one. True, it wasn't the really intense I-want-you-to-die kind of hatred, but I did have a low opinion of her.
How did I come to dislike Kristy? It's almost laughable. This was when I was still pretty young. I had already seen her in a handful of movies, but I didn't have any idea who she was until about 1999, when her movies started to get a lot of airplay on basic cable, perhaps because of her role in BIG DADDY, which was one of the biggest movie hits that summer. I started seeing her face more than ever before, and.well, I guess you could say I didn't quite know what to make of what I saw, not at first. It's hard to explain, but I judged - simply on the way she looked - that she was a bad person. I got the idea into my head that she was arrogant, bitchy, and mean - when I hardly knew her at all! Was it stupid of me? Sure it was, but that's how young people tend to think sometimes. I guess it was all really because I resented her for making me feel this weird, chilly, woozy sensation whenever I saw her face. I think I was falling in love with her, and I had never truly loved anyone before, and it was scary for me.
But if romantic comedies have taught me anything, it's that you can often feel irritation and annoyance for things you actually have a soft spot for. That's definitely true of me when it comes to many things, not just Kristy Swanson. -

I don't hate her. She is beautiful and a wonderful actress. I've been a fan since I first saw her in the Buffy movie. She was just recently on an epis111code of Psych and she was great as always

i don't care for her because she was reportedly the "other woman" in a marriage involving small children. it is MY and only MY opinion that if a man is married he is off limits. i could care less his marital issues, dramas, etc. clean up the mess and THEN move on. I feel the same way about her now husband lloyd eisler, clare danes, billy crudup and especially the nauseating brangelina to name just a few. i do not have to justify my feelings aboutthis or anything else. i do have the right, as do all of you, to choose who i spend my precious time watching or NOT watching. the only reason i even responded to this post was because it intrigued me as the reader asked "why" do some people dislike her. people involved in extra-marital affairs, either male or female, are not very likable to me.

I agree with what you said. Getting involved with a married man, esp. one with a pregnant wife at home was inexcusable. She knew she was making a huge mistake but she did it anyway. She hasn't done very good work in the past few years - come on, the whole point of her being on that stupid ice skating show is because her career was fading & that was supposed to give it a boost like DWTS has done for some "celebrities." While I'm not a big fan of hers (never was even before she had an affair w/the married skater), I really enjoyed her latest movie, "A Christmas Wish" & was able to separate her character in the movie from who she is in real life. If people choose to hate her for her personal life, that's their right to do so. She has her fans & she has her haters as all celebrities do & if the haters choose to post on IMDB, they have every right to & they will continue to no matter what.

I'll tell you why they hate her. Because, they refuse to admit that, without her having originated the role of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, most people would still be going "Sarah Who?".

That is such a load of crap! I think the fact that she stole another woman's husband, while the man's wife was pregnant with his child, is a bigger issue than the fact that she originated the role of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Are you
that
clueless, Carycomic? -

Dude, anyone remotely hot could have played Buffy in that movie, which was watered down and (if memory serves) tanked at the box office. BtVS the series was made in spite of the movie, not because of it.
