Agreed, "The Collector" (1965) is also my favorite of Samantha Eggar's roles!
Her "Best Actress - Drama" Golden Globes award and Cannes Films Festival award + Oscar-nomination for "Best Actress - Drama" for "The Collector" were well-deserved.

I have a difficult time choosing between THE BROOD and THE COLLECTOR. Got to tell you she really freaked me out in THE BROOD; at certain times, however, I found her fairly sympathetic in the movie. A masterful, sadly underrated actress.

I agree she's a terrific actress who is probably underrated because she's so gorgeous as well (a lot of people probably think the two can't go together). If you like "The Brood," check out an overlooked horror film called "Curtains" if you can find it.

1979 was a banner year for Eggar. Fans must check out her performances in The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun, The Walking Stick, and The Molly Maguires. The NY Times praised all 3 performances.
