There's a distinct smell in Indians' homes and businesses, and, frankly, sometimes just in their presence.
Is it incense? Oil? Spice of some kind?

Religious. A long time ago I had a gf who worked at an Indian run hotel. I would go by to see her from time to time but broke up with her because the place stunk so bad from their awful smelling incense they were always burning, it made me feel sick. I don't know why they can't use incense with a more agreeable smell.

Curry has a really pungent smell.
I lived in a huge Indian community for almost 10 years, and you could literally smell it through the walls and neighborhood whenever someone was cooking.

This isn't body odor, though. It's pervasive. My friend used to live in an apartment building with an Indian neighbor, and you could smell it down the hall.
