I believe this is the person I met in a movement class I was taking. She looked very familiar and it haunted me until I saw "Raw Deal" in a waiting area on cable TV and knew: "That's her!"
Anyway, I was visiting this class on vacation (they allow "walk-ins"), and the "legend in his own mind" instructor was very arrogant and caustic to me. At one point in the class when we were supposed to use a prop for a series of movements, the instructor gave out some of these to the people who hadn't brought their own. When he came to me, he looked once, almost sneered, then turned away and didn't give me a prop.
Kathryn Harrold was nearby, an adept in this class, and without a word or any fuss, just a smile of calm kindness, she handed me her prop the one she owned and had brought from home. Then she proceeded to work without one.
She was obviously a class regular, and yet not worried about losing t1c84he approval of the self-adoring, condescending instructor.
She's also incredibly lovely, in perfect shape yet she was quietly, instantly kind to a stranger who is neither of those things. She's a clear-eyed, clear-thinking, class act.
I was impressed, and that's rare. I only wished I was or knew some movie mogul who could give this woman the work she not only deserves, but would elevate with her intelligence, talent, and class. -

AND THANK YOU. What a story!!! Always nice to hear about a legend first hand. Well, now remember, actors like K.H. get plenty of work, but arent they grounded enough to know that their family life is important too? I am sure she turns down roles she feels are not up to the quality she invisions. Remember, the good ones not only want to have a relationship with the director, but they look at who is the cinematographer, lighting director, what is the reputation of the producer and so forth.Movie moguls will NEVER further a great actors career. That is won at the grass roots level by those who have worked with Kathryn down through the years. Many, many actors will say,if chosen for a part "can we get Kathryn Harrold to play the role of the psychiatrist, I've worked with her a couple of times and she would be perfect for the part." I've known K.H. since we were teenagers I took her to see the Stones in London in 1965 on her birthday and we've remained close friends to this day. Your anecdote about her rings true; she is one of the most gracious, intelligent, and beautiful women I've ever known. And to reply to another post in this thread: she's a single mom now, raising a daughter, and family does indeed come first for her. And another poster's implication that her semi-nude scene (her only one) in MODERN ROMANCE somehow contradicts that is mistaken Kathryn filmed the scene many years before she married and became a mother.

Here intelligence and dignity always came through on the screen, no matter what role she was playing. Even though she is very attractive, it's her inner qualities that I've always found that make her even more attractive. I'm sorry to hear that her marriage didn't work out. I guess that explains why she is back in the business again.

Her credits don't indicate any particular gap during the years of her marriage. Sorry that didn't work out for her. She always takes my breath away; has ever since I first saw her on The Rockford Files. Even dumb movies like The Sender were worth it just to watch her at work. A stunningly beautiful woman.

I'm watching Rockford right now and came here, just because acting or not, she has grace, and I don't think that can be faked. It is a very rare quality; the other woman I can think of off the top of my head who had it was Princess Diana. How's that for good company

The OP had it right..She is certainly a class act.A more beautiful woman just doesn't existGlad to see her now and again, when she pops up here or there, usually on a TV show.She has so much talent I'm fairly sure her not too busy work schedule is by choice.
That smile of hers is amazing.I'm sure it would stop most any guy in their tracks
