What's dirty about it? Virtually all American gay or bi people back then had to keep a lid on it for the sake of their careers and other aspects of life, so if he WAS gay it's no surprise he would hide the fact.

However, the true love of Romero's life was Desi Arnez, Ricky Ricardo himself. Unfortunately, it was a un-requited love with Desi who was a player, mostly straight, but not exclusively. Never the less, they were very close.
