Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — George Miller

It will be absolutely marvellous if that happens. Mad Max is my favorite movie of the year and the work Miller did behind the camera was exceptional. He is winning the critics awards left, right and centre and right now is the favorite to win best director Oscar. Come on! Please let it happen!

I think considering it has been a weak year for films, like last, Miller's direction of his film is exceptional and even if there were stronger contenders, he would still deserve a nod. I feel he is going to be the darling of the year for the direction award and while he doesn't have a huge resume for directing, he is almost always impressive with what he has presented. Look at TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. I enjoy all the segments; but his segment was saved for last and it could be considered the bestmy favorite one is Joe Dante's 3rd segment, IT'S A GOOD LIFE though.
