THERE IS A STOOGE SHORT WHERE LARRY IS EATING A PIECE OF BIRTHDAY CAKE. HE TAKES A LIT CANDLE OUT OF HIS MOUTH. WITHOUT MISSING A STEP HE BLOWS IT OUT AND THEN EATS IT! I THOUGHT THEY MIGHT HAVE RUN THE FILM BACKWARDS TO GET THIS EFFECT, BUT THE FLAME WOULD NOT LIGHT ITSELF AGAIN. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THEY DID THIS STUNT?

You know, I don't know how they did that!!!! In fact, I don't know how that fountain pen got stuck in his forehead in the short "Bedlam in Paradise". Remember the phony fountain pen that writes under whipped cream. It really looked like he really got stabbed by it!

he really was stabbed in the head by that pen. They kept rolling because film ain't cheap. I don't remember the title, but Moe fell off some construction stuff during a scene and broke his ribs. You can see Curly, just for a second, fall out of character. Moe sucked it up and kept going to finish the scene. Now, that's a trooper!

He really was stabbed by the pen. In the 1970s, he stated in an interview that a group of kids had swung by the lot to watch the scene and that he was cussing up a storm right in front of them. He had no idea they were there and he felt so bad later on. It's on YouTube.

Yes! I love that story. Poor Larry took it like a man. It's cute in that interview he's like "I felt so terrible" haha.

Well i16d0f you look at the old fountain pens they were pointed at the end so that may explain on how it got stuck in his head but you would think that they would have used a prop because a lot of the things they used were of rubber while filming the shorts.

Larry refers to this incident in his 1973 interview. The fountain pen stunt went terribly wrong - and it in fact stuck into his skull. Larry described how he plucked it out with both blood and ink pouring out.
