For DH defenders, if this isn't creepy or controversial, what is?

I don't get the hate people have for Doug Hutchison. He's a terrific actor, & so what that he is married to a young girl. Elvis "dated" Priscilla at 14, & John Stamos banged a teenage girl(just google the news about it) yet everyone turned turned a blind eye about.
Doug looks happy & in love with this young woman, & I say good for him! Once she is "legal" next month, it's not going to matter anymore! I hope he does make a comeback because I think he's a great actor, but Hollywood sucks in general anyways. Doug had a good run in Hollywood, so I wish him all the best! -

So it's controversial.
To all of you that accept it or hate it, they're not permanently WELDED together. If they enjoy this relationship for awhile, then she or he decides it's no longer working, they can move on to something else. Life is full of changes and opportunities. Let these people make their mistakes and triumphs, and as long as no one is killed or abused, it's their own business. -

Would it suprise you to know that in nearly 45% of the legal jurisdictions of the USA the age of majority is not 18 but in fact 16?
And if you find adults who beep physiologically mature under 18 indviduals to be pedophiles (which they arent - look up the definition of pedophile)
What do you think of adults who charge 12yr olds as adults in the legal system?
13 old enough to be charged as an adult if you commit a crime but still too young to engage in sex? -

You made some very valid points, but what if they are really happy together & didn't want to wait until she is a "legal adult". At least they are legally married, & they have been married nearly a year. And she will be 18 in 4 months. And once she turns 18, their marriage won't be considered as "controversial" anymore.
Also what if the roles were reversed & this was a 51 yr. old actress marrying a 16/17 year old guy? Would people be just as outraged? Probably not.
yes I would and why would people be out raged about a man making love to a 16 year old boy?

I am not sure tb68hat I would be considered a "defender", but I think he is just a scapegoat. Woody Allen and Morgan Freeman have MUCH more "icky" situations, yet they are still embraced by Hollywood and get work
what did Morgan freeman do?

16 year-olds aren't adults under the law, so quit trying to say that it is.
in some states it is

no 16 year old's who have a clue as to what they really want out of life
Let's be honest here, Courtney Stodden hasn't changed from 16 to now (21). She's still wearing skimpy clothing, having surgery and seeking publicity. I don't think it will change anytime soon so what you said holds no weight. She knew what she wanted even at 16 and she was able to get it. -

NOT defending him. Creeps me the hell out. However, I will say that their marriage does not seem to be what others perceive it to be. I saw them on some sort of reality tv or talk showI don't know. I just caught one ep as I'm not a reality tv kind of gal. However, even the therapist was shocked at the dynamics of that relationship. Courtney cracks that whip and Doug pretty much crawls on his knees, grateful to lick the dog beep off her boots. I think most of that ep was the therapist trying to talk Doug into being a bit more assertive and not allowing Courtney to walk all over him.
Not saying that it isn't nasty as hell, but I have to admit that it was kind of hard to see her as victim when she had all that control. The idea of an old guy with a 16 year old is sick. But seeing that particular 16 year old practically bullying some old guy was kind of sad too.
