Yes, how dare he do something different from his usual films. Clearly this one film indicates what the entire rest of his career will be.
Like when Julia Roberts only did moody horror after Mary Reilly. -

l — 14 years ago(November 30, 2011 05:59 PM)Pirahna was a indeed an intenionally campy and gory b-movie. it was just a very very bad one.
it is possible to make them good like Robert Robdreiguez did with Dusk till Dawn, Planet Terror ect. just Aja wasn't up to it, so yeah he has lost it a bit. -

agree with cinema love, piranha is a piece of crap, but haute tension is good and Hills have eyes is GREAT, mirrors was not that bad.
I hope that Alexandre returns the director that i loved

He hasn't really become bad, just started out on a high note. Had good source material/production for his two 'breakout' films: High Tension and the Hills remake. Craven co-produced the Hills and Aja essentially ripped off Dean Koontz's Intensity while changing the ending for High Tension. At first he 'played dumb' until people saw the obvious similarity and he admitted seeing Intensity later.
The bottom line is he is just on autopilot after 'making a splash' and his best output is derivative, while his worst is plain bad.
