John Amos did an excellent job of playing James Evans. his character was so strong and loving even with his temper you could tell his character truly loved and wanted what was best for his family.
I am happy to see his career is still going strong as well as it should because he is such a g5b4reat talent.
I wonder if any of the stars view these boards to see what people think of them.
if he does view this..Mr.Amos you are one of my favorite actors.peace and love to you always. -

The episode Good Times officially ended was the episode that they killed James off in the car wreck. I have absolutely no desire to watch after that. James Evans has to be considered one of the top 7 or 8 fathers every portrayed on television.

Good Times wasn't the same after James was killed off. The show was still watchable and humorous, but it just wasn't the same. He made the show worth watching and if he was around for the last three seasons, the show would have probably lasted longer, maybe even up to the 1980's, but I guess we will never know what would have happened if John Amos's character killed off.

Tenure you are so right. I remember reading where they originally wanted Florida to be a single mom on the show. But Ester Rolle wasn't having it.

I agree. John Amos is a very rugged and masculine guy. He was especially strong and impressive as Seth in "The Beastmaster." He was likewise excellent in "Die Hard 2." And he was very funny in "Coming to America." He's an extremely talented actor who can do comedy and drama with equal skill and conviction.
