two words, man Jennifer Beals.. Ive ben vatching her movies since forever and it wasn't until 2002 that I find out that she's half black. Truth is stranger than fiction, there is also Roger Guenveur Smith, he's light enough to pass for white ,though I've never known him to in his roles. and as for a white guy playin238g a light skinned black man, Anthony Hopkins in the Human Stain.

Let's not forget Robert Duvall, when he played James Earl Jones lighter brother in "A Family Thing". Dude, if you didn't know Jennifer Beals was half Black, you weren't paying attention. She said it in every interview after "Flashdance" and every interview before she went to Yale. LOL. You didn't have your listening ears on. Now, time to open your eyes and your ears. The truth about mixed race people is not STRANGE (as in "truth is stranger than fiction") at all, it's actually rather commonplace and has been going on forever? If you don't believe me take a look at some real Africans from Africa, like Djimon Honsou ("Blood Diamond", "Gladiator"), or Seal (the singer married to Heidi Klum), then take a look at 90% of the African Americans around you. See how much lighter skinned they are? That's because somewhere along their family line, an ancestor was only half Black. The same is true all around the world in every country that colonized in Africa, or made Africans slaves. Hell, even Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of England, acknowledged the African and Asian blood in the royal family bloodlines (Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, married to King George III). So you see, it's not at all strange.

You are dumb. Her Character is a White woman pretending to be black. Thats part of the story. People have become so over sensitive its pathetic. Seriously, chill out. I am German/French and people have confused me for Arabic and Italian; We are all human. It would be weird if they had a monkey trying to be black or a horse trying to be white.
Get a life and stop being so ignorant; people like you feed intolerance Maybe you need to lay off the pot.

She sort reminds me of Angelina Jolie. She has that same intensity.

Hey Deck, stop posting the same thread on multiple pages, and jbrost, certainly stop giving the same snarky response.

"Next we are going to see light skinned blacks playing whites. HAHA."
Does Vin Diesel ring a bell? He's a light-skinned black guy who's exclusively played white characters.

He's half-Italian, but as we know, Africa begins at Sici7ecly.

"He's half-Italian, but as we know, Africa begins at Sicily."
Uhhhno. But we all know that what half of you is not black has hardly ever matter in the United States. There are innumerable black actors/entertainers who are considered black even though their mother's or father's ancestors came from Ireland, England, France, etc. Examples include, but aren't limited to, Halle Berry, Thandie Newton, the Hughes Brothers, Rick Fox, Shemar Moore, Lisa Bonet, Rain Pryor, Jasmine Guy and Craig David.
But hey, these thoughts would never cross your mind, right? Because our country is always smart enough to see the bi-racial aspects of every bi-racial person (like hey, Herman Edwards isn't a black head coach! His mother is a German woman his father met in World War II!). Get real, man.
And, btw, if you're going to be a wise guy by saying I don't know Italians aren't African, try making the northern most reach actually be in mainland Italy so you include all Italians (because, as we all know, not every Italian in this country calls Sicilia home).

Everybody also forgets that Wentworth Miller is also of mixed race and plays a white character for the last three years on Prisonbreak.
They do know we're brothers, right?

If you took the time to watch the trailer for this movie before posting about this, you'd realize that part of the plot of the film is the question of her race.
"First he thought she was a sister tryin' to be white. Then he started thinkin' it was the other way around"
The filmmakers had the right idea picking Jolene Blalock for this role. She's still relatively unk5b4nown, aside from drooling Star Trek fanboys, so they can take quite a bit of liberty in playing around with her race/color thereby keeping the audience guessing. The average movie-goer isn't going to do a bunch of research before seeing the film to see what nationality she really is.

As a black women i don't care that this women is pretending to be black or whatever she is doing in this movie, I'm just tired of people suggesting Halle Berry to play every role that could be played by a mixed or african american actress. She is not that great of an actress she is just acceptable to what america wants to see black or mixed women look like. Ok enough is enough!

Rachel Luttrell (Tanzanian-born Canadian actress) is a much better actress than Berry and is much better looking too!
Frell, even Samantha Mumba is a better actress than Halle
