Well, they mean since John doesn't share their mental illness of believing in a unseen fantasy, they reject him.
This sort of thing is quite common. The religion business is very decisive. That's really the whole purpose.
Perhaps the OP just wants to reach out for some sense of community. -

Typical of most christians, rejecting another human being because they don't share in their delusions.. Their hypocrisy is truly amazing.
Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things.
But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Oh, and YOU can speak as to what "most christians" think, feel and would do in a given circumstance? Interesting that you, who shows such remarkable hubris, mocks those he disagrees with.
And as for your Weinberg quote, the man clearly has NO sense of recent history. Atheism has murdered FAR MORE than any religion has. But facts just don't matter to those who hate for hates sake.
Regular naps prevent old age, especially if you take them while driving.
