Don't get me wrong because I truly love Benedict Cumberbatch as an actor but I am mystified why this year he took the BAFTA LA Best Artist of the Year Award and not Chitiwel considering the high praise he has received for 12 Years A Slave.
How did that happen and he has done considerable noteworthy work
what Jordie? -

I'm glad that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. His filmography is truly mystifying. For every "Children of Men" there's a "2012." It makes my heart sink a bit when I see his name listed in the credits of a very poor film. On the one hand, I'm glad to see him because I always enjoy his perfomances, but I'm also sad because he could be doing so much better.
At the same time, he did quite a bit of stage work prior to and during his early film career. As Terrence Mann said, "movies will make you famous, TV will make you rich, but theater will make you good." He did quite a bit of Shakespeare, including playing Othello and Malcom in "Macbeth". He received an Olivier nomination as well as a win.
During those years, Hollywood's loss was theater's gain. One day I want to be fortunate enough to see him in a great stage production. -

I've loved his work for years and I'm SO pleased to see he finally has a starring role. I was just watching some trailers and rea5b4lised he was the lead in "12 Years a Slave" which is brilliant. He's had some great supporting parts, wish he was a lead more often. (I haven't seen any of the other films you mention where he is a lead, though I have seen him in heaps of other stuff.)
