I do not think Maggie Gyllenhaal is ugly at all.
She looked very pretty to me in The Dark Knight and Donnie Darko.
Why does everyone say she is an ugly woman? Is it just because she has frown lines, though she is young?
Please enlighten me, why do people find her unattractive?

Maggie is not ugly. I know her, and I'm telling you, if you ever see her in person, you would be taken back by her beauty. Her smile is the best I've ever seen, it is absolutely amazing. On top of that, she is a very sweet girl. I think the reason that people say she is ugly, is because she has never marketed herself as a sex symbol. She is relied completely on her talent. Not everyone thinks Angelina Jolie is attractive, but a lot of people do because they were sold her image as a sex symbol. Maggie should smile more often, then eveyone would see her true beauty.

I mean I've seen her in two movies and she's a decent actress from what I've seen, it just pisses me off so bad when people call her ugly! I think she's so pretty, I just don't get it.

YES, Gemma and Eire, I 100% agree with you, she is absolutely gorgeous. And yeah, she hasn't really sold herself as a sex symbol which is exactly why people find her unattracive, she is so pretty, I wish people would stop calling her ugly, and actually look at her, and her smile, they would be blown away.

Uh, people are entitled to their own opinions. I think she is ugly and it has nothing to do with her not selling herself out as a sex symbol. I don't think Hollywood would allow that anyways.
There are starving people in this world, shouldn't you be wishing for better things for them instead of wishing people would stop calling Maggie ugly???? -

I really doubt the trolls here who call her ugly really believe it. They're all kids whose favorite movie is that Batman film and they wanted someone else in the part. Then there's this group that hates her politics.

This is the most specious claim that I have yet to read on imdb or elsewhere. People think that Maggie Gyllenhaal is ugly because sheis "not selling herself out as a sex symbol" UH - Have you seen secretary (her so-called break out role? Uh - have you seen Sherrybaby - her other break-through performance which had the critics panting? UH - Maggie Gyllenhaal exploits her sexuality more than any other established or working (non-porn) actress. Even Angelina Jolie does not do full frontal. Can you name any A or B list actress who has shown her bush more than Maggie? The only roles that MG got before displaying her bush were parts directed by her DAD. All of her so-called critically acclaimed roles have been so-called art house films which show more of MG's bush and nudity than most porns. the only difference between sherrybaby and cinemaz sof1354t-porn is that there is 'story' and 'conflict' in MG's roles that is lacking in soft porn.
Amen, TheBiz22. I was thinking the exact same thing. Two out of the three roles she is famous for - she's a total slutbag. She shows total nudity - the type that other actresses who have no issue showing their breasts frequently wouldn't do. Of course she TRIED to sell sexuality but she's just not that attractive so no one thought much of it.
Have the people here who are claiming to be her friends and fans NOT seen her movies? duh.- I'll keep my money, my freedom and my guns & you can keep the "change" -

Your "sex symbol" claim is ludicrous. There are hundreds of millions of better looking women out there who don't sell themselves as sex symbols and don't have people thinking they're ugly. We're talking about an actress with a low enough profile that, even if she had sold herself as a sex-symbol, people wouldn't know it when they were calling her ugly.
People call her ugly because she's less attractive than an average thin woman in her early 30s and she's being compared to ada0ctresses, who tend to be more attractive than average. -

I don't think it is "ludicrous". I hear a lot of people say that Paris Hilton is beautiful, I think Maggie is a lot more attractive than Paris. People have been conditioned by the media to see Paris as sexy. That is all they talk about when speaking about Paris, that she is what is "acceptable" as far as beauty is concerned. When the media talk about Maggie, it is always referencing her talent. Of course, the media could never have a conversation abot Paris Hilton's "talent".

I agree with you. She is less attractive than the average, but considerably so. In The Dark Knight, she is referred to as "beautiful". Reading these blogs just shows us that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
