I couldn't agree more. Maggie is not a pretty woman. She just doesn't have the DNA and genes in her. She has a very pillsbury dough boy face, she looks 10 years older than she really is. And It really WAS hard to believe that batman and harvey wanted her so much in the movie, i couldn't see why. I just cringed the whole way through.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and humans have this thing called "opinion" (read: a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.) Therefore it seems that "everyone" (as you put it) believe that, in their "opinion", Maggie Gyllenhaal is ugly looking. I hope that clears things up for you.
Although I do think that posters are over-doing in the "hatred" aspect. -

Tina Fey isn't a sex symbol either and I think she's beautiful.
And calling people 'gay' just because they don't find Maggie attractive is very immature.
By the way, are these "several encounters" by any chance a fancy word for STALKING WITH A CAMERA AND INSANELY ASKING FOR AUTOGRAPHS?
Anyway,I still think Jake is prettier than Maggie.
