Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Keeley Hawes

    Horatia1 — 19 years ago(September 27, 2006 02:23 AM)

I just finished watching " Tipping the Velvet". I was not familiar with Keely Hawes before this , but I could not stop thinking how much she resembles Kiera Knightly. It's almost like they could be sisters or something..

Yes! I totally agree. They are so alike I get confused when I see pictures of Keira Knightly and think its Keely Hawes. I am so glad someone other than me + my sister think so!

So then, I am not alone.
I was just watching 'The Knight's Tale' from the BBC's Canterbury Tales
and came here just to see if others felt the same 😉
It's both her eyes and her mouth, don't you think?
        Here,
        http://www.playfuls.com/images/news/keeley_hawes.jpg
        the resemblance is quite distinctive.

I feel like they are twins! I couldn't stop thinking about how much her and Keira Knightly are alike. I think it's the pouting, voice tone and mannerisms in my opinion. First time i had seen her in anything-great actress.

And to cap it all she's married to Matthew Macfadyen, who starred opposite Keira Knightly in Pride & Prejustice. Guess he got a good chance to compare the two during filming!

Keeley is much better looking, in my opinion. I like Keira, but Keeley should be the more famous of the "twins".

                  There is a resemblance, definitely.
Keira is more Hollywood but I think Keeley is more interesting looking. I think her face is more expressive and I just like her more as an actress.

First I thought it was only the lips but it's also the eyes, the nose and the teeth The whole face resembles Keira very much!

Keeley Hawes has Keira completely beat. Keeley far better looking and for my money a much better actress. She needs the right vehicles. Better looking than Keira, better built, and more talented.

I had forgotten Keeley had played Zoe in the early series of "Spooks" until you mentioned her marriage to Matthew Macfadyen. I couldn't place where I had seen her before (yes, I could've done more research on imdb !).

You know, I thought the same thing about her voice, when I heard her in Tomb Raider: Legend as Lara Croft. Lara really sounds like Keira Knightley in that installment, in my opinion.

Have to say no to the sounding alike bit and I think Keeley looks healthier than Keira; at least she did for TTV and WAD. Keira makes me want to buy something, anything, and make her take a bite.
As for the voice, I think Keeley has a much purer one with fantastic pronunciation.

I see no resemblance whatsoever. physical or otherwise. And Lena Headey? Your movie-watching privileges are hereby revoked.

I think your obvious hatred for Keira Knightley is clouding your judgment. Their faces have a lot of similarities.

Yes! Totally! I was watching Our Mutual Friend and seriously had to pause and analyze her face. Some of her facial expressions are much like Knightley's or shall I say vice versa. Of course, I believe Keeley Hawes is a far superior actress in my own opinion.
