David Koepp might be one of the few who is actually worse., although maybe not quite as annoying or overrated as Kaufman.

I second Donald Kaufman. "Adaptation" wasn't going anywhere until charlie asked Donald for help. Donald saved that movie and made it great. I can't wait to see "The 3"; it sounds awesome.

I always thought the best "Writer/Director of all time is James Cameron." His early work like Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss. That boy can Write just as good as he can Direct.
I'm also a big Tarantino fan!

Nobody beats Charlie Kaufman's genius. Kubrick's scripts are amazing, but they werent strait out of his brain. Tarantino comes close, but his writing doesn't have the beauty and magic that Charlie's does.

I love charlie kaufman but some writers that haven't been mentioned are David Lynch , Paul Thomas Anderson, Woody Allen, and Zach Helm. True the first three are also directors, but they also write their own screenplays.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Coen Brothers. they are truly the best writers alive today (possible exception: woody allen). i do love charlie kaufmans movies though.

Hell yes to the Coens. As far as Allen, I would argue that "Annie Hall" is the finest screenplay ever written. It bears some similarities to "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" as far as structure.

Hi there, I need some help here, I haven't seen any Coen film yet and it sounds like they are really good, the fact that they are next to Woody Allen's name makes them worth checking out.
What Coen brothers films are a MUST SEE?? Please, recomend me some

                                        I love the Coens.
                                        For drama:
                                        Fargo
                                        Blood Simple
                                        Miller's Crossing
                                        For comedy:
                                        Raising Arizona
                                        The Big Lebowski
Watch those five and then decide if you like them and move out from there. I envy you that you get to see them for the first time!
