Nobody beats Charlie Kaufman's genius. Kubrick's scripts are amazing, but they werent strait out of his brain. Tarantino comes close, but his writing doesn't have the beauty and magic that Charlie's does.

I love charlie kaufman but some writers that haven't been mentioned are David Lynch , Paul Thomas Anderson, Woody Allen, and Zach Helm. True the first three are also directors, but they also write their own screenplays.

Hell yes to the Coens. As far as Allen, I would argue that "Annie Hall" is the finest screenplay ever written. It bears some similarities to "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" as far as structure.
You want me to shoot Sailor in the brain with a gun. -

Hi there, I need some help here, I haven't seen any Coen film yet and it sounds like they are really good, the fact that they are next to Woody Allen's name makes them worth checking out.
What Coen brothers films are a MUST SEE?? Please, recomend me some -

I love the Coens.
For drama:
Fargo
Blood Simple
Miller's Crossing
For comedy:
Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
Watch those five and then decide if you like them and move out from there. I envy you that you get to see them for the first time! -

You seem to overlook the fact that Kaufman steals ideas from, gee, just about everything. You only think him original because you don't know from what he steals.
