Yeah! I had same reation! When I saw him on Monk, I tought "what you mean? that's not the same actor who played buffalo bill! OMG he's really awesome!"

I finally watched all of SOTL for the first time last weekend. I've mainly known who Levine is thanks to Monk, so whenever I saw him in a film such as Heat or American Gangster or Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford I was always thinking, "Hey, that's Captain Stottlemeyer!"
Watching him as Buffalo Bill however, I just felt my mind explode, thinking "OMIGOD.

Captain Stottlemeyer?!" Like one of the previous posters on here said, he just completely transformed himself into the role. Foster and Hopkins both get tons of the praise and I do feel they deserved recognition, but in Levine's case while I do take note that he has received some credit I also feel he doesn't get nearly enough for an excellent and incredibly scary performance.

I know your post was a long, long time ago..but, while I agree about the shock of knowing who the Buff Bill char is, you are dead wrong on the girl in the pitnot even close to Callie's girlfriend, who is Jessica Capshaw, step daughter of Stephen Spielberg. The girl in the pit was Brooke Smith, who coincidentally did also play on Grey's Anatomy, but not in the role you are thinking of. She was another Dr.
