I`m sad he quits the job as producer at the OSCARs. You see I am a film music fan and when I first saw that he was going to do the OSCARs as the producer I thought to myself that it could mean that he could hire Lalo Schifrin as the musical director/OSCAR Conductor, that would have been great. Ratner and Schifrin have done several movies together and Ratner even put Schifrin in front of the camera in one of his movies so yes I am sad that he leaves that job.

What damage? You can't be serious! He used the word fag. I'm pretty sure you will hear someone say it today and you probably won't even care but when a celeb does it o boy the world is falling apart. I hear that word said by other people ALL OVER THE WORLD. People are just to sensative and need to grow a backbone.
Even other gays use it and from what I'm hearing not a lot of them even care about what Brett said.

Whether we like it or not, the issue here is words have meaning, and they have consequences. Anyone holding Ratner's position with an ounce of intelligence would see that.
For those who defend this blunt tool and thus condone such stupidity and this is no isolated case with him, all I'll say is, I hope your parents are forgiving. -

This 'political correctness' thing is ridiculous. It's not like he had a Mel Gibson drunk tirade and verbally attacked Jews and assaulted a woman.
Hypocrite much? The difference is that Mel Gibson made these comments will DRUNK, not in public like Ratner.
He also did not assault a woman. Those are allegations.
Get your facts straight next time. -

Unlike the media, the majority of impulsive wagon jumping peeps on here making it an gay issue and GLAAD; Don't assume I mean that pathetic slip up alone, the more serious issue of his lying and misogynistic dialogue regarding Olivia Munn. There's also quite a bit more the media aren't reporting on.

I hear that word said by other people ALL OVER THE WORLD.
No you don't. The word is specific to the English spoken in North America.
What damage? You can't be serious! He used the word fag. I'm pretty sure you will hear someone say it today and you probably won't even care but when a celeb does it o boy the world is falling apart.
You're being disingenuous. Some numbskull on a street corner using the word doesn't give it any validity; a celebrity using it, if they were to go unchallenged, creates an air of approval around any kind of slur and promotes its propagation. You know this.
People are just to sensative and need to grow a backbone.
Or perhaps people need to stop making excuses for bad behavior, and stop trying to put the blame onto those who are pointing out why it's unacceptable.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment. -

i guess you all never say course words , come on! fag is just another course word, dont tell me you all have never said that word before, and you never say other bad words.
In the movie "Stuck on you" one of the characters yells out the phrase "you fag" to another of the characters and nobody complained about that movie, because that's just another bad word and people in movies say a lot of bad words and it seems that American audience loves that kind of words.
And yes, ALL OVER the world people say the word fag, at least its equivalent depending on the language, for example in Spanish the word is 'marica', and nob68body cares if someone say that word.
if you don't like certain course word you should agree to avoid saying all the other existing bad words in the world because all of them are offensive, for example the b**** word, or f word c word, etc. dont tell me you dont say those words. if you dont you must be a very polite and holy person.

Yea, the 'N' word was widely used & still is used and that doesn't make it right. It was used commonly, then it became wrong & now it's illegal here in NYC. The same will happen with the f word as well. Mark my words.

Excuse me? Using that word is as damaging to some people in the gay community as the N word is to the African American community and Jewish slurs are to that community. Think before you speak! It is NOT OK to use the F word!!!

When did it become so wrong to say the word "fag?" Honestly, it's a simple insult, and gay people get WAY too defensive about it. What's next, people will m5b4ake it so you can't even call them fat now? Oh wait, that's already happened too
