Absolutely! TYFS is a brilliant masterpiece really, Juno was ok and kinda pretentious.

Anyone here agree that Thank You For Smoking was better than Juno?
i would say it's close either way depends on what mood i am in. i think the idea behind 'Thank You For Smoking' is better than 'Juno' but both films where quite good.
i give 2000both films a 8/10. so i guess it mostly boils down to if you buy into the hype or not. in fact, when i first seen the previews on 'Juno' i thought the film looked stupid so i kept putting off seeing it but i eventually got around to seeing it and it turned out MUCH better than i expected it to be.
p.s. Jason Reitman is 3 for 3 now after i seen his recent film 'Up in the Air' which i also gave a 8/10.
also on a side note i think in a way 'Thank You For Smoking' somewhat feels like a film i consider to be a masterpiece which is 'Lord of War' (2005) as the basic ideas behind it are similar but instead of being about Gun Running it's about Cigarettes etc.

Agreed, it's his most scathing film he's made (I've not seen Young Adult) and it's all the better for it. He seems to have lost his anger at the world and now just accepts his fate, which both Juno and Up In the Air both feel like they are doing. I hope Young Adult sees him back to form.

I feel both movies deserve equal credit, but I ever-so-slightly prefer Juno and therefore I guess I'm glad it's the one of the two that's gotten so much critical/commercial love.
