and saying that smoking does give you lung cancer is like saying that you will get sick if you inject yourself with a disease you MIGHT get lung cancer (many people smoke their whole lives and don't get anything, some don't smoke and get it, it does however IMPROVE your chances of contracting lung cancer, but then again living in a city does that as well and it seems life in general) and you MIGHT get sick if you inject a disease into yourself (depending on the strain, antibodies, general health etc).
ppl shouldn't bash this much, who gives a flying beep if this girl smokes? who cares if she does or doesn't drink/do drugs? Let the girl smoke if she wants to, she's old enough to make up her own mind
    geez bunch o' frikkin retards
Damn, I think I'm love with Drew Barrymore!

Of course health class says that.
Health class makes it seem that if you take one cigarette that you are just going to fall down and die.
Smoking in the long term can be ba1354d BUT I honestly think that if you're just smoking a cigarette every once in awhile just to cool off or something then its not that bad. Smoking wouldn't be bad if they didn't put in chemicals that made you addicted. Drinking is much worse. Have you ever heard of someone dying in a car crash because they were under the influence of a cigarette? No, of course not.
Leave Brittany alone. She's a sweet girl who for the most part does the right thing. I don't understand why people feel the need to point out every single flaw in celebs and stone them for it. They make mistakes just like normal people and with tabloids and such flaunting their every mistake, the way the media pressures them can have negative effects. Hence Lindsay Lohan and Brittney Spears.

that is an ignornt and apathetic thing to say..you despise smokers?
Don't judge a person on whether they smoke or not..I've met many smokers who are good people and have tried to quit-but they simply can't.
Most smokers out there(or at least the older ones)regret that they started because now they are addicted. so don't be too quick too judge.
And besides..it isn't any of your business if she smokes anyway..she shouldn't be "shamed"everyone makes mistakes. She isn't trying to hurt anyone else..

Thats sad. I guess its because shes a performer and gets stressed out. I dont find it a very attractive quality its not a huge deal to me. Its still worse than drinking or smoking weed in my opinion, and is unhealthy for others around you.

Actually drinking's not that bad. It's only bad if you drink waaay too much. Smoking's actually more dangerous if you ask me. There may be a lot of things that are worse out there in this real world and I personally think smoking's one of them. My uncle died on the night of Mother's day this year because he had lung cancer. He smoked about 4 packs a day. So, I would rethink about what you said. Hope you take no offense to this. I'm just saying.

There is a huge difference between drinking (begin an alcoholic) and drinking (enjoy a cocktail once in a while).
Being an alcoholic=addicted to alcohol is way worse than being addicted to nicotine, but being addicted to nicotine is way worse then drinking a bit. That's the problem with alcohol. It can be totally harmless or a really bad problem.
And of course there are a lot of things in the real world which are worse than smoking, but what kind of lame excuse is that? There are a lot more things in the real world which are worse than hurting someone (e.g.: killing thousands of innocent people with a bomb), but that doesn't mean that hurting someone is harmless or that we all should go through the world beating people up.
In the same way, just because there are a lot of things which are worse than smoking, doesn't mean that smoking is good or that criticizing it is not allowed. It's unhealthy, it is - which is one of the main problem - unhealthy to all the people around you (at least if you are inside while smoking) and that means that "not smoking" is better than "smoking", which justifies its criticism.

Well.. you need to think of the social consequences of drinking and the potentional danger of drunk drivers and brawlers.. Compared to those, smoking is actually a rather harmless activity (don't get me wrong I don't condone smoking or anything, just relating it to potentially more risky activities).

Eee gad! You sound like my mother! Why do people think it's A-Ok for them to lecture people on how to live? What, is this not America anymore?
How do you account for the people in their 90s who still smoke? It's a dice roll based on genetics, that's it. What about the innocent people killed by drunk drivers? Far fewer people killed by driving while smoking. Geez, leave people alone!
