That's not tainting. Tainting woud be ruining it. It doesn't ruin the flavor of anything. Just enhances things that might otherwise be bland like hush puppies or fries.
There's also the option of using another fryer.

Frommeveryone I've heard who's been there and the US, they say well seasoned food is hard to come by except maybe at an Indian place.
They also say the Chinese food sucks there.
It's not just one person. Almost everyone I've seen experience both countries think this.

I do want to be a little more positive to balance it out. The
accents are great
. I hear the pubs have great people and atmosphere. I actually love the dreery weather and lack of severe weather.
The snacks are good
. The
chocolate is way better
than American.
The beer is better than our mainstream beer
. I still prefer some of our smaller or more local breweries.

I always season it and every chef I've ever worked with does, some people even use beer in their batter. Not sure where your info is coming from but it's a little generalised to say the least.
