People are idiots sometimes. Correctiona lot of the time.

      That is indeed very true.
It does seem to apply to every star. They go from major stars to the stars who are little known today. A few authors go on the idea that every Hollywood star was gay, and people eat it up.

I get so tired of pro gay rights activists claiming everyone is gay when they have nothing to back it up.
Rudy was straight as an arrow. They wish he was gay, but he is not.

Yeesh we have some really bad writers these days. At one point I "jokingly" suspected that Darwin Porter and David Bret were one and the same.

It's not the worst book, but it is the most salacious.Better bets Are Emily Wieder's Book and the bio on Natacha Rambova by Morris

The Rudolph Valentino Society's website lists books to avoid. This book is on that list.

The Rudolph Valentino Society is also run by a known fugitive named Katie Lynn Birchard, whom goes by the name, "Hala Pickford." Birchard has an active arrest warrant in the State Of California. The warrant is from a failure to appear for contempt of court charges stemming from a libel and defamation of character lawsuit that Birchard lost in 2010. Her opinions, such as "Books To Avoid" should be taken with a grain of salt given the fact that she has a well-documented history of libel & slander.

An intelligent insight into how the rumors of Valentino's sexuality began, and how often creeps like David Bret got their inspiration.

That book is trashy sensationalism. It is the on the same level of "National Enquirer" and other rags that print wildly distorted versions of the truth, along with fabricated lies. The book to read is "Dark Lover." you know when you read it, that the author attempts to trace the life of the real Rudolph Valentino, with no silly exaggerations. 5b4The author takes the time to explain what was based on rumor, and what is fact. "Dream of Desire" is very disrespectful to the memory of a legend, but if you like to read scandal rags, you might get a kick out of it. but please don't take it seriously..

The book is a joke that some take seriously. Bret claims that Rudolph Valentino and William Boyd had an affair. This is presented with no eyewitness accounts or any other proof, no, it's just thrown out there and we have to believe it.
Other than playing a bit part in THE YOUNG RAJAH [1922] did Boyd have any other connection to Valentino?
