He said that he intended for the movie script to be "tongue-in-cheek", but the director and actors didn't understand his style, so the whole movie's dialogue came off as corny.5b4
I think he failed at this anyways, because when was an Alien movie supposed to be funny? He really just can't turn off. Hey, Joss, you can't take an established franchise and try to write it like you own the material. -

HAHA cast and crew did an amazing job

Im more surprised how his script got gree-litI love that movie, cast and crew are flawless
Director gave the film great visual look and feel (you just can tell thats hes French I dont know why you just feel it :D, but I admit that movie missed the tone of previous ones and I blame that on script too)
Cast was full of great actors that made even a short living characters memorable.
Sigourneyas much as Ripleys clone with Alien DNA sounds soooo crazyshe made it work like its piece of cakehonestlyshe played Ripley 8 with confidence and humour
Effects..CGI? its 97:D it looks ok at that time it looks cooland the use of miniatures is great looks realPractical effect great
Musicvery memorable and beautiful score
And the whole film is full of crazy black humour.people hate it because its different
In my opinion Alien franchise is so great because every entry is so different from ech other and has a blueprint of its director that it makes franchise fresh and strong
(yes Alien 3 is amazing movie, watch only the assembly cut, Fincher made his beautiful debut, even though Fox put him through hell)
Joss Whedongrow upEven in documentaries on 2003 DVD release she went about how he loved the project sogrow some facking balls dude -

Loved it. Great show that really umped the HSQ with the many twists and turns. Loved how season two actually tackled what it means to be a person. Are we just data or is there more.
I highly recommend it to anybody.

Avengers only sold well because of the nerds having orgasms over their superheroes coming together in an unprecedented film. Aside from that, it was a terribly run of the mill story and plot that has been done a t5b4housand times already.

I have to disagree. I thought the story was put together so well and that is why it was a major blockbuster. The story line does have a couple of spots in it that
that has been done a thousand times already.
but they were woven into the plot so well, they were hardly noticed. This may sound so simplistic but it is often true. The "Story line made sense". -

He can write. He can and does even write amazing scripts, but he sometimes lays a turd instead of a golden/silver/bronze egg. It is not really fair to look at a writer's worst script and bring out the cleaver and say "no more." You just call it a pathetic, pedophilic, baby seal clubbing equivalent of a writer half a$$ing and phoning it in.

I read/heard everywhere Alien 4 was a bad movie so I avoided this movie for years. But when finally watching I actually liked it. I liked the pace of the movie and the dark humor.
Then on IMDB I read it was from Joss Whedon and I realised why I liked this film. -

If you read the original Alien:Resurrection script (it's on the blu-ray I think) it's actually not that bad at all. A lot of the best bits are cut out, probably for being too expensive. There was an awesome chase through the ship's garden in armoured vehicles that sadly didn't show up in the movie in any form, and the ending took place on Earth after the shuttle crashed with the hybrid still onboard. The hybrid itself was described very differently, and in my opinion much better than the creepy, but not very alien looking creature in the movie. Also, some of the more bullcrap arty moments are just normal scenes, like when Ripley falls through the floor into some weird semi-sexual alien orgy moment just before the hybrid is born, in the script she was just captured by the alie5b4ns and cocooned with some of the scientist. She manages to break free and escape whilst the hybrid, who doesn't have any interest in her as a mother figure at all, kills the scientists. The rest seems to be some seriously odd choices by the director. The script is written as a balls out action horror (like Aliens) but the director made an art movie that kind of missed the point. It wasn't great by any means, but it was certainly entertaining and a hell of a lot better than what we ended up watching on screen.
