I think Bridges is perfect, but he might be too old to play Wilson across over a time period. If it was just about a couple of years, the 80s to now then I would say definitely. He doesn't just look like him, he moves like him.
Until someone mentioned Alec Baldwin I wouldn't have ever thought of him, but you are right he would be another idea choice. He is pushing the upper age limit of being able to play Wilson too but could get away with a longer period.
Perhaps if they use a fat suit to show Wilson during the 70s, it doesn't matter how old whoever plays him is for those years. -

alec baldwin would be a bad choice because his voice sounds nothing like Brian and plus he's too famous to play Brian Wilson, the whole time I would be thinking, why is Alec Baldwin dressed up to look like Brian Wilson. Jeff Bridges is too old. Maybe they could do a flashback type deal with Bridges playing an older Brian Wilson, and some lesser known actor who looks kind of like a younger Jeff Bridges to play younger Brian. or just get jamie foxx.

I think Henry Thomas, the kid from ET (who went on to star in LEGENDS OF THE FALL) would be a great choice. He's young(ish), but not so young that he couldn't age to play Brian across the span of his entire life. If you ask me, he bears quite a strong resemblance to the legendary Beach Boy.

I agree with DWD-3Henry Thomas would be a good choice. Or Ryan Reynolds

. Both are at ages where with the right make-up, they could pull a wider span of years more convincingly than an older actor could. -

Whoever they get, needs to already have a musical background. This is not like Walk the Line where Joaquin Phoenix literally only had to learn all the major chords on guitar to passably play Johnny Cash songs. Brian was a multi-instrumentalist and his musicianship is pivotal to the story. And I hope that the rest of the Beach Boys have substantial roles as well.
