Whoever they get, needs to already have a musical background. This is not like Walk the Line where Joaquin Phoenix literally only had to learn all the major chords on guitar to passably play Johnny Cash songs. Brian was a multi-instrumentalist and his musicianship is pivotal to the story. And I hope that the rest of the Beach Boys have substantial roles as well.

I think of Sean Astin as Brian Wilson, Brian was quite chubby in his younger years.
Heath Ledger as Mike Love.

hey haven't there been several beach boy bio pics already, from what i remember they were both pretty crappy, but the one where kevin Dunn played Murry Wilson was ok.
