Awful news, if his friends or family come here then I hope they know he brought me personally much joy in my life and was one of my favourite 'celebrities'.
He will be missed, but he will also be remembered

A sad day. We have lost one of the most cheerful people to work on British broadcasting. His chat show provided some never to forget moments, David Icke and George Best to name just 2 examples. His Eurovison commentary never failed to entertain though by the end you feel his despair at how political it became.
      RIP Tel

A sad day. A pity that he didn't manage to have a long and happy retirement and spend more time with his family.

I hope and suspect that he enjoyed working and doing his morning show. He pared-down many of his broadcasting commitments over the last few years so I hope he had time to spend with his family and enjoy some leisure.

I'm truly saddened by this. His Radio 2 show was fantastic, owing to his fantastic, mischievous humour and affable nature. I'm too young to remember his chat show but loved his Eurovision commentary and presenting of Points of View on a Sunday afternoon, as well as, of course, Children in Need. He was clearly a very kind, gentle man who never took himself too seriously and always made his guests feel at ease.
I genuinely feel like I have lost someone close to me, a sentiment I have heard many others make upon hearing this sad news - testament to the man himself. It may sound strange to say, but even though he was 77 it still feels like he was taken too soon. A really lovely man who will be greatly missed. RIP Sir Terry.

I feel bereft. Such a witty man with a gentle humour. I was laughing at the very recent repeats of his food road trip with Mason McQueen. Sad there'll be no more.

He was warm and witty indeed, a one of a kind star. As a kid i loved a Blankety Blank and his 1980s chat show was one of threat of its kind. He will be missed.

He will be missed. A great communicator; an honest, witty commentator; a personality who became part of our daily lives. A sad loss in a world that needs his brand of companionability more than ever.

Very true. It's hard to know who else could possibly replicate the warmth and amicable dependability Wogan exuded as a broadcaster.

Beautifully put. The One Show tonight was quite a tear jerker.
I thought Terry was fabulous and always looked forward to seeing him - his appearance on Would I Lie To You was a highlight in238 recent years.
I'll miss his voice and humour very much indeed
