I really don’t think she was crazy at all. I think she was an abused person…

Of course, this wouldn't have been the case when she 9 years old and having sex with neighborhood boys in exchange for cigarettes. Why wasn't anybody watching her?
Nobody even cared then and this is very much likely when all the contempt began to seep in. For Aileen, she would have seen what she could use to get some things she wanted, but my, how absolutely devastating for this kid to have to go down this track with other local kids that used her.

I think she was unwell mentally they also should have not killed her
She was like a wild animal that couldn't ever be tamed.
For Aileen, her death by lethal injection was perhaps a release for her. She apparently claimed as such prior to her execution.

That's possibly the saddest prison inmate story I've ever seen!!
I saw one of a young black man who got sentenced to life when he was a teenager.
In the video interview he's rapping about his feelings about being a prisoner and how depressed he is about it and how he felt so guilty about what he did. -

Aileen had been incarcerated for over a decade awaiting her execution. In this clip towards her end, she had found some resolution for her actions and got some religion. That is specious within itself yes and can endorse a lack of rational saneness in some, yet considering her circumstance, this is perhaps a moot point regarding the religious aspect.
How she would have been prior, was more about being a survivalist and an opportunist in the most base manner, yet that was only spurned on by her hate and anger.
She knew what she was capable of and to know this within oneself, must not only be a terrifying thing to confront, but also a courageous one from her circumstantial perspective. Aileen had had enough and was ready to die.
If that makes her insane, then so be it. Personally, I just feel it makes her as clean as she could make herself within her own tools and means at her disposal. She wasn't that sharp a tack, but she still had an instinctual intelligence.

She couldn’t really be trusted due to the number of kills she did. She did claim self defence for her first kill and the movie depicted her as being sexually violated.
Is this truth though? Regardless, she still did what she did due to how men had treated her. It was some sort of warped catharsis for her.
