I'm quite sure he detested them with an intense passion!!!!! The root of dee matter. Well, if you ask most folks today, "Which is the first concept album ever?" Well, most would say dee Beatles
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    (Capital, June 1, 1967)
    . Wrong!!!! It was FZ & MOI's
    Freak Out!
    (2LP, Verve/MGM V/V6-5005-2, June 27, 1966)
. And that was Zappa's first-ever released album.
Now this detestation goes even deeper.
    Freak Out!
should of come out at least five to six months earlier. See folks, dee Beatles got wind of Zappa's album and tried to stall it's release so that they would be dee first. Plus, they thought that since he was a
    noivice
, they could probably just push him around, and actually get away with this tactic - hey, they were dee biggest thing since sliced bread at that time. For shame folks, because when FZ got wind of this he went balistic, and he then forced MGM records to release it when they did. Still that was a good year before
    Sgt Pepper
, and it was a double album!!!! But still dee Beatles PR machine tried to sell everyone on dee idea that
    they
were first. Hey, I would surmise that they even got dee
    concept album
idea from Zappa and did what they did, and when they did it, because
    Sgt Pepper
was there what 7th or 9th album (not sure exactly which, but you get dee idea here). So now you b68know dee rest of dee story
Did he hate the beatles or was it just a joke to parody the sgt pepper cover?
    So,
    Henri Salmel
    you are talking about dee
    Tinsel Town Rebellion
1981 album cover, eh? Or dee
    Rolling Stone
    magazines'
    Sgt Pepper cover parody
photo, where Zappa dressed-up in a dress (and stole dee show)? Let me know
    Henri Salmel
, and viddy dee well until then.

what about the lyrics of "Oh, no" from weasels ripped my flesh? they are a parody of "all you need is love"
but i think that zappa doesn't hate the beatles, he was friend of ringo starr and john lennon; he always hate the hippie movement more than nothing, and probably he feel dissapointed when the beatles take that influence, but they quickly dropped

WEll i know that Freak out! was a concept album that was released before sgt pepper so i understand if Zappa was bit angry when sgt pepper was praised by critics as first concept album.

          Oh no
          (1:45)
          Oh no
          I don't believe it
You say that you think you know
          The meaning of love
You say love is all we need
          You say
With your love you can change
          All of the fools
          All of the hate
          I think you're probably
          Out to lunch
          Oh no
          I don't believe it
You say that you think you know
          The meaning of love
Do you really think it can be told?
You say that you really know
          I think
          You should check it again
          How can you say
          What you believe
Will be the key to a
          World of love?
          All your love
          Will it save me?
          All your love
          Will it save the world
          From what we can't understand?
          Oh no
          I don't believe it
          And in your dreams
          You can see yourself
          As a prophet
          Saving the world
          The
          Words from your lips
          I just can't believe
          You are such
          A fool

            Yes, Ringo, did
            play
            Zappa in
            200 Motels
, and FZ did do some
            colloboration
with Lennon - although it was unofficially released!!!! But still dee hurt from trying to steal his thunder, and stall dee release of
            Freak Out!
, and then re-write history!!! But still

I doubt it was The (or 'dee') Beatles trying to steal his thunder and more like the execs and other assorted AH's. Or maybe Paul McCartney since Macca's pretty controlling. Maybe it's a sign that FZ never collaborated with him. I'd say he's taking the mickey out of critics the media with the SP cover.

Zappa never really had a beef with the Beatles as far as I know. But he was a huge fan of them, however.

You mean he 'wasn't a huge f111can of them'?
I think FZ is someone who can look past the hype and the promoters and the PR people and recognise talent or potential. Maybe we'll never really know what he thought. I wonder if Gail does.

Whoops, you're right, I meant "wasn't". That's what happens if you don't check your spelling.
Anyway, if you want to actually hear Frank speak for himself concerning the Beatles, he mentions them on a Larry King interview. Check for it on Youtube. He said he liked a few songs, but overall, he didn't like the group.

You're wrong there too. The first concept album was the Chipmunks' debut album, Let's All Sing With (LIberty Records, 1959). It detailed a fictionalization of an argument between its composer?Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian Jr. a/k/a David Seville?and his son Adam, the latter of which was fictionalized as his namesake son's default public pseudonym Alvin Chipmunk. Bagdasarian Sr. did all the voices, and the music was performed by an early lineup of Zappa's orchestra Abnuceals Emuukha.
