In all honesty, Zhang Ziyi is incredibly overrated. Out of the so-called "Four Flowers" (according to the press and popu

Most of my Chinese friends dig her. Some of them commented on the photos of her with her boyfriend on the beach, where he had his face in her a s s-they thought it was nasty. So do I, but hey, if that's what floats her boat, then that's her business!

I live in China. Yes, it's true, that Zhang Ziyi is detested. It's jealousy and envy.
However, I do think, Zhang Ziyi needs to "practice what she preaches". In an interview, she remarked, how the younger Chinese generations, want "the latest brands aka - they everything now", but that they need to remember, how the previous generations suffered. Now whilst the previously mentioned, may be true, it hasn't stopped Zhang Ziyi, from wearing the latest brands / buying when she wants.
Nonetheless, Zhang Ziyi is doing something right, because she is ALL OVER CHINA - HER IMAGE IS EVERYWHERE. Furthermore, she must be very kind / considerate, because, she organized a fundraiser, to help the earthquake victims. -

(It's jealousy and envy)
So are all famous and rich actresses in China detested then?
Ths one intresting thing about Gong Li and ZZ being the most famous in China. They are SO different. Gong Li keeps a a low profile, always has, elusive. ZZ does not. -

I find it hilarious that the one actress many on here claim to be better loved in China, worked so hard to become a citizen of another country! (Singaporean) LOL!
Do you guys see the irony in that? Maybe since we aren't even comparing Chinese actresses anymore, we should open the debated to all International actresses.
If I was Chinese, I'd at least like the one who still wanted to be Chinese.
The jealousy on this thread is incredible. People are just mad she's engaged to a westerner.
Get over it. -

It is just too hard to believe so. Ziyi would rather to let the scandal go and loose commercial opportunities. How much time does it cost for a charity to show account book? Isn't it should be ready to shown at anytime?

Forbes magazine's "China edition" recently ranked her the second most popular celebrity after NBA player Ming Yao [August 2004].
Just sayin'

The simple answer is jealousy.
A lot of chinese will contest that, and understandably so. I don't entirely agree with her lifestyle and decisions, but the funny thing is that IMO a lot of the same chinese who hate her and criticize her will probably do the same thing if given the opportunity. someone mentioned that she relied a lot more on luck in her career than talent, and to some extent that is true. The thing about Ziyi is that she was primarily an action star, not a pure acting artist like Gong Li. She knows that there arent too many opportunities in life especially in her field, so she took it. Call her a 2000gold digger, whore, whatever. At least she is successful now.
She and Gong Li are totally different kinds of actresses, there is no way to compare. The only reason they are mentioned in the same breath is because they are two of the most famous/popular in westerners' eyes. Some prefer the classy beauty of Gong li, some like the ass-kicking, more direct kind of hotness they see in Ziyi.
I don't think Ziyi has sold herself or her people out at all. if anything i am more disappointed in some of Jackie Chan's older US movies, where he acts like a total clown. Btw alot of Ziyi fans here think she's perfect, great, happy to see that, though i have seen more beautiful women and actresses in China, it's just the language barrier that is holding them back from going overseas.
