It's sad that this talented performer has so many trolls here. But you know what they say, "Don't feed the trolls." Just ignore them. A troll's worst fear is that he will be ignored.
I think the way she ran in this film was just adorable. She was playing a peasant girl, was she supposed to look like a model going down the walkway at a fashion show? -

Ziyi was really good in this, but the star was Yimou's film-making skill. That guy can take a micro-budget, unknown stars, industry connections, and make really good films.
I think the music echos Titanic; and there is a movie-poster of the Titanic film featured in the film. It's not like The Road Home was a Chinese Titanic, but I think there was a connection between Yimou and Titanic. -

Yes, she is truely remarkable. That was her first movie. Have you 1c84seen her next movie, Crouching Tiger ? From a supporting role, she ended up having more screen times than the other 2 leading roles and outshined them.
She is definitely special. That's why so many trolls and haters too.
As for those trolls, they are sick in a way. Have some sympathy for them. -

One of only a handful of movies where I watched it every night for a week! - it's still a fantastically beautiful film.
