Great, touching story. Thanks for posting that bit of film, overseer.
Ziyi's performance is believable and affecting.

Ziyi was really good in this, but the star was Yimou's film-making skill. That guy can take a micro-budget, unknown stars, industry connections, and make really good films.
I think the music echos Titanic; and there is a movie-poster of the Titanic film featured in the film. It's not like The Road Home was a Chinese Titanic, but I think there was a connection between Yimou and Titanic.

Yes, she is truely remarkable. That was her first movie. Have you 1c84seen her next movie, Crouching Tiger ? From a supporting role, she ended up having more screen times than the other 2 leading roles and outshined them.
She is definitely special. That's why so many trolls and haters too.
As for those trolls, they are sick in a way. Have some sympathy for them.

Loved this film. I just loved how the film manages to be rather quiet yet say so many things at the same time. It's one of those films where you just get swept away by how beautiful it is.

One of only a handful of movies where I watched it every night for a week! - it's still a fantastically beautiful film.
