It will be a long time before she is taken seriously as an actress

I think she tends to be more suited to comedy, even though she was excellent as Linda Lovelace. Unfortunately, comedic actresses often get overlooked when compared to those that do more drama. Amanda also seems to still be playing ingenue roles, which is more usual for actresses five years younger. Her career is fine, she attaches herself to decent projects, but their success isn't often attributed to her involvement.

Eh, actresses are playing ingenue roles well into their 30's today. Regardless of how ageist Hollywood, the modern actress can still have an ingenue/starlet image at 29/30. Actually, Hollywood (and even modern society) encourages putting maturity off much longer these days, and I think that is part of the reason Amanda might be struggling to transition. I think she has shown dramatic chops, but it is trickier to transition into mature roles nowadays, even for male actors her age.

I find this thread odd, as I would certainly take her seriously as an actress. She hasn't really had a defining role yet, but the sad honest truth is that Hollywood seems to make fewer of those roles for women, and turn to whatever the current A-list is to fill them.
I would strongly suspect Seyfried will have a very long and varied career.
