You might like it in beverage form too⦠There's a drink called
Xocolatl
which, I believe, is of Aztec origin. It is essentially a thick hot chocolate with ground red peppers and a little vanilla. You can make your own from scratch, or purchase some commercially available ones with the pre-mixed powder. Just add boiling water.
BTW, this was referenced in the 2000 film
Chocolat
, where Juliet Binoche's character was mixing up a chocolate drink:
Armande Voizin: Your cinnamon looks rancid.
Vianne: Well, it's not cinnamon, it's a special kind of chili pepper.
Armande Voizin: Chili pepper in hot chocolate? Psh.
Vianne: Mm-hm. It'll give you a lift. -

Spice with chocolate does sometimes work. I forgot what the flavor was called, but there was a spicy chocolate at this ice cream place called Creole Creamery in New Orleans that has some weird flavors.

More retards then ever are going to clog the medical system with ulcers and gastritis with this new trend to eat overly reasonable spicy stuff.

Thatβs hilarious coming from the guy who stole precious time from people with broken legs and heart attacks in an ER because he got his feelings hurt on a message board.

I love dark chocolate. I think that the chili would be an interesting complement to that.
I'll definitely check this out.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.
