Completely sold out in all of the Barnes N Nobles in my neck of the woods. The publisher is reprinting for all of us biting at the chomp to get this book.
Can't wait to puree the beets into somethings. And the spinach brownies sound really interesting.

I don't believe that she was a plagiarist. What would be the reason to risk the Seinfeld name? She was already a celebrity. She's already rich. Jessica Seinfeld plagiarizing, doesn't follow. Besides, her publisher only printed a small limited number of books. The supply of this book was not huge. This book was obviously more a labor of love, than an attempt to make lots of money.
What does follow is that are a limited number of foods to hide things in. There are about 8 important fruits and vegetables to hide. Coincidences are very possible when drafting recipes, with so few variable to alter. That said, the two books are pretty far apart in receipe quality and content. Both books have recipes for brownies, but they are made with different recipes and ingredients.
She surely isn't in this for the money. I've been trying to get 4 copies for friends and no store has them. If, when promoting the book, if she had said,
"some of you may have already come up with your own "sneak attacks", but here's some that my family really enjoys". It wouldn't have diminished her contribution. In fact, I think the selling point wasn't so much that there were these recipes where you could hide things. People have beein doing that for years with the zuchinni bread and the carrot cake. Marijuana brownies? What I found attractive was the fact that these recipes "worked". We as consumers get bombarded with so many products, gimmicks, diets, recipes and they do not work. Or, we don't really have the confidence that the recipes or product will work5b4. Having someone that we see from time to time on t.v and in magazines that we can trust, helps a consumer to make the leap into buying.
The market is big enough for many of these books. There is no reason for the other book not to be published. Unfortunately, there is a reason why A list celebrities like Beyonce and J.Lo are asked to endorse products. And that is that celebrities do have a certain cachet to offer. On the other hand, Jessica Seinfeld publishing her book first and having the star power to go on Oprah, may ultimately do for the other book, what Tiger Woods has done for golf. And that is to heighten the awareness of the game.
The other book will probably do well, because the recipes are different. I will for one buy it. And everyone will be happy.

I figured she plagiarized the book. I very much doubt she cooks for her children, let alone comes up with recipes. I'm sure she has hired help that does that for her. I heard she stole a charity's idea for her Baby Buggy company she started, too. So, this woman, who has no original thought in her head, has a history of stealing other people's ideas.
I agree the way she started cheating on her husband right after her honeymoon was disgusting. She saw a man with more money and fame and threw her husband in the garbage can. Jerry Seinfeld is disgusting for breaking up a new marriage like that, too. He can have lots of women with the money he has, and he chose to break up a marriage.

Nothing of what you say, fittedfleece, denies that Jessica plagiarized the book from Lapine. And using so many Ziploc bags on a weekly basis is really bad for the environment.

she had time to organize her method; puree everything in one session, freeze in Zip-loc bags, and pull out what you need as you need it during the week. That's what strikes me as the originality of Jessica's book.
Jessica's ideas of pureeing and placing in zip locs are not originallots of people, including myself, have been doing that for years.
I still think there is something shady about the whole book publishing mess, but I think it will be decided in the judicial system.

Yeah, all those "coincidences" are really coincidence. And I'll sell you the Statue of Liberty at a very special price

I don't think high of this woman at all. Jerry really lowered his standards witht his one. If Jessica wants to do damage control she would donate the profits off of her book. Which clearly she has not done. Oh I don't need the money Well why 5b4don't you donate it, geez!!

Yes, I don't think very highly of her either. If she's donating the proceeds, she should just say so, otherwise, she comes off as a greedy upper class [fill in your own word]. When you've reached that level in society, you really need to pay attention to how you are perceived. She has the right to make her own money, but in the midst of this scandal, or even if there wasn't a scandal, she'd do best to donate whatever she makes off of it and not take one penny. And publicly announce that. What did I read Jerry is worth? $60 million?
I'm sure she has some redeeming qualities, but the whole story of how she & Jerry met and got together really bothers me. I know it happensyou marry someone and realize it's a mistakebut the way it was reported sounded just so soap ope111craish.
