well, true but her dad went there so she has legacy priority. second of all, even if she was dumb as rocks the very fact that her dad was donald trump would have been enough for her to get into any college in the world. He'd donate a couple of million and she wouldn't even had to take the SATs.
But i do think this girl isn't in the same league as paris hilton, she seems very bright and well spoke and she did graduate summa cum laude. -

when i applied to harvard, the alumnus who interviewed told me at the end "honestly, getting into these ivy league schools is pretty much a crap-shoot - i know a lot of people who had perfect SAT or ACT scores but were on waiting lists, while others who were in the 50th percentile got in because of the legacy factor or the influence of parents, so all i am saying is that even though you are bright and talented, you may not get in, and in that case it won't be your fault"
interestingly enough, after the interview i found out that this guy's dad used to be the governor of iowa. sooooooo, the point is that the legacy factor goes a long way, as does money and politics. like there is no way that president bush got high enough SAT scores to go to Yale on his own, whereas Condi Rice obviously had to work her way up. it just depends. in the case of Ivanka, i think it would be safe to assume that she had to do pretty much zip to get into Wharton. -

She's not Paris Hilton. You ever seen her interviewed, she's nothing like her. The only similarity is that they're both wealthy, but she's actually done some work and has merit.
If you create a thread titled, "He/she looks like" you are officially disturbed.

My best friend goes to UPenn and she says that half the peeps in Wharton are legacy cases or sons or daughters of foreign dignitaries - No joke!

First of, Ivanka graduated from UPenn UNDERGRAD at the age of 23. Second, she didn't attend Wharton, she attended the School of Arts and Sciences. A Bachelor's in Economics is conferred by Penn's CAS school, NOT Wharton.
Third, Ivanka DIDN'T graduate summa cum laude from Wharton, she graduated from CAS. And although Ivanka apparently graduated summa cum laude from UPenn, how do you know that she did it on her own merit? Perhaps she got a lot of help, and not just from tutors, but from the professors themselves. Perhaps the professor told Ivanka what to study for the test. Perhaps the professors told Ivanka the EXACT material and questions that would be on the test. Perhaps the professors were more lenient in grading Ivanka's papers and presentations. In other words, perhaps Ivanka got preferential treatment at Wharton because of her status as Trump's daughter.
And you know what? Penn ain't gonna do anything about it. Technically, it's not "cheating" since the professors are not actually doing the work, but the professors are certainly giving Ivanka a major heads up on what the test material will cover, down to the precise multiple choice questions.
How do I know this? I took an economics class with several athletes, and this was quite common. The professors would base his tests on EXACTLY what was in the homework. He would also recycle the same multiple choice and essay questions from previous tests (though he might change a word or two). In other words, the student athletes KNEW EXACTLY what questions and answers would be on the test. The athletes merely had to just memorize the answers. I'm sure this practice is common in classes where your classmates are football players and/or celebrities. -

interesting points, smakdaddy. i know the student athletes at my university have private tutors and receive help from professors, and since i go to the university of kansas, you can understand why professors would be under a LOT of pressure to make sure that the men's basketball players, especially (ranked 3 in the nation, i believe) stay eligible. for subjective portions of a course, suchb68 as essays/presentations, a professor is not held accountable for the way they grade it. however, if a student athlete is uneligible, the class that they are failing in can be easily obtained and the professor would definitely be in a sticky situation. that being said, i am sure that no professor in their right mind would ever think of giving a less than satisfactory grade to ivanka. surely the fact that her daddy is a rich man helped her get into Wharton AND stay there.

I don't think her dad being Donald trump had nothing to do with her getting into Upenn, but her dad isn't the one studying for her and helping her graduate. I think she said somewhere that she works hard for her own money and doesn't get free money from her dad.

Trump and his three children have gone to Wharton. Maybe they're really bright. Or maybe it's a matter of legacy.
Let's not forget Bush went to Yale and Harvard Business School and he's not the brightest bulb anywhere.
