She may have gotten into the school because of her dad. But to stay in and graduate with honors is something you have to do on your own. She must be very bright to have accomplished that.

My best friend goes to UPenn and she says that half the peeps in Wharton are legacy cases or sons or daughters of foreign dignitaries - No joke!

First of, Ivanka graduated from UPenn UNDERGRAD at the age of 23. Second, she didn't attend Wharton, she attended the School of Arts and Sciences. A Bachelor's in Economics is conferred by Penn's CAS school, NOT Wharton.
Third, Ivanka DIDN'T graduate summa cum laude from Wharton, she graduated from CAS. And although Ivanka apparently graduated summa cum laude from UPenn, how do you know that she did it on her own merit? Perhaps she got a lot of help, and not just from tutors, but from the professors themselves. Perhaps the professor told Ivanka what to study for the test. Perhaps the professors told Ivanka the EXACT material and questions that would be on the test. Perhaps the professors were more lenient in grading Ivanka's papers and presentations. In other words, perhaps Ivanka got preferential treatment at Wharton because of her status as Trump's daughter.
And you know what? Penn ain't gonna do anything about it. Technically, it's not "cheating" since the professors are not actually doing the work, but the professors are certainly giving Ivanka a major heads up on what the test material will cover, down to the precise multiple choice questions.
How do I know this? I took an economics class with several athletes, and this was quite common. The professors would base his tests on EXACTLY what was in the homework. He would also recycle the same multiple choice and essay questions from previous tests (though he might change a word or two). In other words, the student athletes KNEW EXACTLY what questions and answers would be on the test. The athletes merely had to just memorize the answers. I'm sure this practice is common in classes where your classmates are football players and/or celebrities.

interesting points, smakdaddy. i know the student athletes at my university have private tutors and receive help from professors, and since i go to the university of kansas, you can understand why professors would be under a LOT of pressure to make sure that the men's basketball players, especially (ranked 3 in the nation, i believe) stay eligible. for subjective portions of a course, suchb68 as essays/presentations, a professor is not held accountable for the way they grade it. however, if a student athlete is uneligible, the class that they are failing in can be easily obtained and the professor would definitely be in a sticky situation. that being said, i am sure that no professor in their right mind would ever think of giving a less than satisfactory grade to ivanka. surely the fact that her daddy is a rich man helped her get into Wharton AND stay there.

I don't think her dad being Donald trump had nothing to do with her getting into Upenn, but her dad isn't the one studying for her and helping her graduate. I think she said somewhere that she works hard for her own money and doesn't get free money from her dad.

Trump and his three children have gone to Wharton. Maybe they're really bright. Or maybe it's a matter of legacy.
Let's not forget Bush went to Yale and Harvard Business School and he's not the brightest bulb anywhere.

Donald Trump is really bright and his kids have had a good education, so they should be prepared for the business world. Ivanka has said in interviews that Donald Trump always emphasized education and hard work because he didn't want his kids to grow up to be the idle rich "like so many people we know." She's certainly had lots of opportunities that the average person doesn't have, but you still have to get the grades to graduate summa cum laude.

True. Although it is possible that her professors might have made it easier for her to pass, like so many of the other people posting here have been saying, I highly doubt she would make summa cum laude if that were the case. Every professor in every class she took would have to be in on it and their pride would keep many of them from doing more than just passing her if they were under duress.
Besides, it looks like her father is grooming her to run his empire when he dies. And even if he isn't, I think she wants to and is very serious about it. She's no Paris Hilton (Thank, G-d), coasting her way on popularity like so many very attractive women I could name.
She reminds me of Hugh Hefner's daughter Christine in that way. Lets hope if Ivanka does end up taking over from her father, that she does as well as Christine did.

"Let's not forget" that Bush graduated from Yale, and then Harvard with an M.B.A. They don't just hand those out. "Not the brightest bulb?" Let's see YOUR diploma. Then we'll accept your criticism as savant (or not).

She seems to be a very intelligent and well-spoken person, in interviews and on television. Yes, Donald Trump being her father probably had a lot to do with her getting into whichever university she wanted, but she also graduated and remained, so we are led to believe by pretty much every website/interview about her, with high regards. Even if she was as dumb as Paris Hilton, which I severely doubt, at least she works.
Her lips were red and full, like tubes of blood drawn by an inattentive phlebotomist.
