This might be news many of us were hoping for regarding a certain project
          :
And theres a lot of great
          female directors
actually, that are finally coming to the surface that Ive had meetings with, she says,
and Im working with one next year that Im really excited about.
One of those women! (Laughs.) But its exciting to finally, I mean, 90% of the directors Ive been working with have been male and theyve been incredible but it would be really nice to work with more women in the future, and I can feel that thats starting to happen.

I'm not 100%, but aside from working with A. Heckerling and N. Beckwith, the only other female director she has been reported to be linked to is S. Bier. They had scouted out locations in Scotland some time ago for Mary Queen of Scots. It was being developed by the terrific U.K. production company Working Title Films. So, must likely Saoirse actually gave us a big tip off yesterday.

She worked with Gillian Armstrong also on Death Defying Acts. Bier would be a coup.

I forgot Armstrong. I've loved some of Bier's work even though it can be a bit soapy. She is a good entertainer.

It does sound promising, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm thinking Saoirse will have clout after Brooklyn. Man, I'm glad she got The Host monkey off her back.
                    Meanwhile, hadn't heard this before:
On the red carpet the director told me about plans to spin off Brooklyn into a television show that, theres a plan in the pipeline but it was very early and no names were attached yet for the cast. Were trying to get this out in the field first, Crowley told me, adding that he might get involved as well. Its a great idea and everybody is intrigued by it.

So Brooklyn can definitely be considered the breakout role of her adult career.
I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed in Brooklyn. Several of her other movies have been better.

I recently watched "Morgan" at the cinema and especially enjoyed the initial two thirds of the film before it devolved into "nearly everyone is going to die now" action-type finish. Anya Taylor-Joy was good in the title role.
Here she (at the end) recounts meeting Saoirse during The Crucible run:

Yes, it's not surprising that Saoirse is starting to become a real role model among other young actresses.

Although Joe and Jane Popcorn couldn't pick her out of a lineup, she's been a critics' darling since the beginning of her career, and those who love and follow film certainly know her quite well. In addition, it goes without saying she is highly regarded within the industry especially among her acting peers.

I really don't get all the love for Saoirse's performance in 'Atonement' when she was so much better in a larger role in 'Death Defying Acts'. And yet no-one ever mentions that film or Saoirse's part in it!
And I think DDA was a much better film than 'Atonement' anyway. But it's like DDA was somehow never made while people go on and on about 'Atonement' which I thought was a pretty ordinary film. It's maddening!
